Travel has changed my life. Even though it sounds terribly cliché, it's completely true. From the few times I’ve made the trek across the globe to foreign destinations, I have gotten something unique and unforgettable out of each experience. You can learn more from one day in an unfamiliar place then you can from sitting in a classroom for an entire month. Academia might be nice and comfortable for some people but nothing can truly replace the experience of discovering the world for yourself.
It should be taken into consideration, however, that travel isn’t for everyone. From afar, travel appears to be a seamless experience. This is not true. Travel can be an outrageously unpredictable experience, at times. You never really know what you’re getting yourself into. Despite my love of globe trotting, I might even go so far as to say that it gets straight up uncomfortable and miserable, from time to time. There are countless stories I could tell of my travel misfortunes -- like the time I got stuck in Frankfurt’s red light district, or the time my cousins were robbed. Because of these deterrents, it takes a distinctive type of person to fall in love with travel. Street smarts, a good attitude and resilience are must-haves.
If someone is willing to handle the occasional consequences of life, the rewards are boundless. As summer approaches, and college students begin to free themselves of the 24/7 responsibilities of school, there is an opportunity for adventure. If you’re anything like me, this semester has stripped you entirely of energy and taken every moral fiber in your body to push though. Below are some of the major popular problems that travel can cure.
You feel stuck in a loop.
Travel is anything but mundane. On a trip to a foreign city you’ll spend your time wandering through unfamiliar street collecting inspiration on how to switch things up a bit.
You feel the need to revaluate your life.
Travel is amazing because it naturally comes with a healthy dose of perspective. Time away from the familiarities of everyday life can help you subconsciously recognize what you’ve been messing.
You feel unsatisfied.
We all have those times in our lives where we think we aren’t living up to our potential. Travel not only gives you a rush of life experience that can’t be matched. Sometimes it takes a few months after a big trip to fully comprehend what you experienced during that short time. But once you do, your stories will be endless and everyone else will be envious.
You just got out of a relationship.
There is no better way to flaunt your independence like doing something spontaneous and unforgettable.
You’re just bored, or feel like you’re a boring person.
Not only is travel educational, the stories you’ll have after to share with friends will be legendary. Although it can be pricy, it's an amazing way to pass time.
