Nashville is home to many fun places, historic attractions, and lots and lots of country music. After living in Nashville for 11 years, I have gotten to see most of the city's main attractions and historic landmarks. Although the South isn't where I want to spend the rest of my life, Nashville is home to me. There are so many fun places to visit, great places to eat, and you might even run into a few country music stars here and there. Here are just a few things to do this summer in Nashville if you get tired of laying on the couch all day.
1. Andrew Jackson's Hermitage
The home of Andrew Jackson is located just 15 minutes outside of downtown Nashville in Hermitage, TN. I remember going on multiple field trips here in elementary school, and it was fun every time. There is plenty to see, and so much history to learn about while walking on the grounds of Andrew Jackson's home.
2. Centennial Park
Located in downtown Nashville across from Vanderbilt University, Centennial Park has plenty of space to roam, hangout with friends and family, or just relax. It is very family friendly, and a great spot if you're looking for a free attraction.
3. Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge
The ped bridge is just off Broadway in downtown Nashville. Every Sunday during football season, the ped bridge is home to hundreds of excited, enthusiastic Titans fans. Other than that, many locals often walk, run, or find a bench and enjoy the view from the bridge as they're unwinding from their day.
4. Frist Center For Visual Arts
The Frist, a former post office, is also located in downtown Nashville, and is home to many traveling art shows. The exhibits are always changing, so there's always something new to check out.
5. Opryland Hotel
Opryland is located about 15 minutes from downtown Nashville in Donelson. This massive hotel has 17 restaurants, nine acres of indoor gardens with waterfalls, one indoor and two outdoor pools, an exercise room, and a spa. The convention center has 152 meeting spaces and six ballrooms. Even if you do not plan on staying at this hotel, it is fun to just walk around and experience everything if you have not been.
