5 Fun Facts That Not Even My CLOSEST Friends Know About Me

I guess you could call these five facts my quirks.

I think it's pretty cool to have some things that not everyone knows about you. I guess this is because what others don't know about me always gives more for me to talk about in conversation and especially in introductions. Next time when I'm taking part in an ice breaker and when I have to give my name, major, year, and a fun fact about myself, catch me mentioning one of these five things below.

I’m a lefty when I write but I’m a righty when I play sports.

Giphy

Whenever I hold a pen or pencil, I use my left hand. However, whenever I hold a basketball or badminton racket or whenever I throw a ball, I always do it with my right hand. If I try to do it with my left, it feels awkward, and I feel like I have no control of what's in my hand. Sometimes I'm not sure whether to consider myself a lefty or a righty.

I do my eyeliner with floss.

Giphy

Please don't make fun of me for this one. I'm the last thing from an artist, and I barely can do a winged liner without some sort of guide. A few years ago, I looked up on YouTube how to do a winged liner. One method was to place one of those disposable flosses against your eye where you want the wing to be and trace it with the liner. It took me a couple of tries to get it right, but I eventually found it to be the fastest way for me to do my eyeliner.

I pour my milk before my cereal.

Giphy

This is the reason why I lose a lot of friends (I'm kidding or am I?). Let me explain before I get flamed. I pour my milk first because I don't want my cereal to get soggy so quickly. Also, if I pour my cereal first, then I can't see how much milk I need to add, and I normally prefer my cereal and milk to be in a certain ratio. When I eat cereal around my friends, I put my cereal in first so I don't get judged, but when I'm alone, you bet I'm putting in the milk first. Please don't unfriend me.

I like the volume on the TV to end in a 0, 2, 5, or 8.

Giphy

I really don't get this one, but whenever I watch TV, the volume has to end in one of those digits. If my parents have it on 29, I have to make it either 28 or 30. Same goes with something like 33; it has to be 35. It just has to be. Maybe it's because I don't like odd number, but 5 is an odd number, so I don't get it.

I sleep with my door open.

Giphy

A majority of my friends sleep with their doors closed, but to me, I just don't feel safe doing that. What if there's a fire? You could save a few seconds and use that time to run if you keep your door opened, and in that sort of situation, every second matters. You could argue that a closed door keeps the noise and light out, but an open door to me just feels safer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
