Around this time of year, people tend to flip on their television and see plenty of Christmas movies. This list will be the Top 5 must watch Christmas movies this holiday season:

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This Halloween inspired Christmas movie is certainly an outlier compared to traditional Christmas movies, but certainly, has been known to bring joy to many. On the movie critic website Rotten Tomatoes, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" received the stellar rating of 94%. If you want to watch a classic Christmas movie but don't want the traditional type of movie, this is the movie for you.

4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

On the opposite side of the spectrum from the first movie on the last, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a classic Christmas movie that all of us have seen at one time or another. This movie tells the tale of Rudolph, a reindeer not accepted by the rest for the color of his nose. This wonderful movie scored a 92% on the Rotten Tomatoes scale.

3. Home Alone (1990)

"Home Alone" is a movie that nearly every person in the United States has seen. It is a comedy about a young boy in a big family who has been left behind. Robbers attempt to invade his house, but he shoots back with many enjoyable jokes and pranks. Unfortunately, Rotten Tomatoes seems to hate this movie, giving it a 55% .

2. Elf (2003)

"Elf" is one of the most comedic movies of all time and is certainly near the top of the list for Christmas movies. Buddy the Elf ventures from the North Pole to New York City to meet his real father. The movie is filled with twists and hilarious turns at every corner. Rotten Tomatoes awards this movie an 84%, which is a very low mark for such a fantastic movie.

1. A Christmas Story (1983)

"A Christmas Story" is most certainly my favorite Christmas movie of all time and should certainly be everyone's favorite. This movie plays back to back the entirety of Christmas Day in my household. Any pictures ever taken will show this movie in the background and for good reason. If you are ever bored it could never hurt to throw this movie on. Unjustly, the movie scores an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, despite the 100% it has truly earned.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
