Top 5 Bizarre Smash Ballot Entries

The world of Super Smash Bros. is populated by a vast array of characters. From the famous Super Mario to the obscure Mr. Game & Watch, Smash Bros. has no shortage of wacky and wonderful characters to play as. “Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U and 3DS” not only has the most characters out of any Smash Bros. game, but it also has upcoming downloadable characters that players can fight as in the future. How did Nintendo decide on these DLC characters? They opened up a ballot where players were able to vote on whatever, and I mean whatever character they wanted to appear. Unfortunately, this ballot is now closed, but there are some records of what some of the characters people voted for were. Most players voted on popular characters such as King K. Rool, Bayonetta, Sora, and Banjo Kazooie. Then there were those who selected more… unusual combatants. So without further ado, here are the top five most bizarre characters submitted to the Smash Ballot.

5. Shaquille O’Neal

You know this is going to be a fun list when Shaq is only the fifth weirdest character I’ve found. Unlike some of the other characters on our list, Shaq actually appeared in a game, which was dubbed “Shaq-Fu.” I guess that makes him slightly more qualified for Smash. However, considering his game bombed big time, I think that Shaq’s career in video gaming is about as dead as his movie career. Don’t worry Shaq, at least you’re still the king of Icy-Hot commercials.

4. Gabe Newell

This next DLC character will definitely be worth the wait! Jokes aside, Gabe Newell will probably never be a fighter even if he reached the top of the polls. The reason? The game would crash every time someone plays a three-stock match.

3. Henry Fleming

At least the first two characters are easily recognizable. I had to do a Google search to find out who this competitor was. Henry Fleming is the main character of the novel, “The Red Badge of Courage,” which takes place during the Civil War. Need I say more?

2. Abraham Lincoln

While we’re on the subject of historical characters, here’s our second-weirdest potential smasher. Now who wouldn’t want to pass up the experience of beating up Mario and Link as the 16th president of the United States? I know I would! In all seriousness though, Abe Lincoln would actually be a pretty viable candidate, considering how ridiculously tall he was. Plus his top hat could give him even more reach than Marth’s sword.

Before we reach number 1, here are some (dis)honorable mentions:

Reggie:

Smash was not ready for Reggie.

Shrek:

*insert obligatory “Shrek is love, Shrek is life” joke here*

Slippy Toad:

You already know why…

Tetris Block:

It’s a Tetris block… What else is there to say?

Draven:

Actually… he’d be pretty awesome in Smash.

And now, the moment you’ve been waiting for! The number one most bizarre character that has been submitted to the Smash Ballot! And that character is…

1. Home Depot

Yes, you heard me right. Home Depot. That hardware store that you go to for all your DIY needs has the potential to get into Smash 4. How would it move? How would it attack? Who cares! The mere feeling of being able to play as one of the most successful hardware chains in America would be worth it!

So who do you think is the most outrageous character submitted for Smash 4 DLC? Would you actually not mind having these characters included in the roster? Answer in the comments below!

And remember to keep on smashing!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
