Coffee lovers unite!
There comes a time during the day when we must get our fill (maybe not me too much since I have given it up, but I still understand the feeling!) and then comes the tricky question: Where should I get my coffee from today? Now, to some this question may come with an easy answer, while others may have a hard time picking a place. There are so many things to consider when you do not just have one pick. Here are some of the things my friends and I think about when we are picking our next coffee sip!
1. Location
Depending on who wants to drive or if we want to walk really helps us figure out where to go. If I had a car and had all the money needed for gas, I may be hitting up a Starbucks at least once a week...maybe twice, because a girl needs her Green Tea Frappuccino with whip cream on top! A girl or boy needs her hit of something fresh and relaxing every once in a while. That's why I settle for a Blueberry Ice Tea from Dunkin Donuts when we just feel like walking somewhere!
2. When a football team wins--we get free coffee!
Alright, I will say this now: I do not understand football sometimes and it's really sad, but at the college I go to (Cedar Crest College) we pretty much care for football for this reason! Most girls may not have the app on their phone half of the year, but let me tell you, when football season comes around, the app is on their phone and we wait for the Eagles to win! This does not mean I watch the game at all...nope, I am the girl who sits on Google, looks up the scores, and waits to see who wins the game. The highlights are great sometimes and seeing the picture of the winning throw or catch is great, but I just need the free coupon to show up so it's free coffee for everyone!
3. Discounts!
Starbucks is notorious for doing this! They call it "happy hour" and they know it is happy hour for those who do not want to get drunk..well, not with alcohol in this case! For their happy hour they love to make their drinks either half off, buy a drink and get extra stars for your purchase, buy one drink and get another one free, and the list pretty much goes on! Dunkin Donuts has a deal where they will give you a coupon for $0.99 coffee or if you by so much in store, you get a free snack or something like that. I know for Wawa coffee though they will do all day free coffee, and people run for that deal because it comes with every full moon!
4. Preference
There are some people who will hands-down chose one place and only one place to drink because they are never let down. I am not sure how this even happens, but we will go with it! I mean, during the summer it was easier going to Starbucks because there is one on my way to work, and some will go out of their way just to get the perfect cup of coffee!
5. Coffee Size!
I will always remember when my teacher walked into class with an extra large coffee from Dunkin Donuts and I busted out laughing! Some people next those extra couple of ounces to start their day or give them an extra boost because they know if they don't have it than they won't be able to focus and class would be pointless. I mean you can't cancel class due to lack of caffeine...right? I mean I had a teacher let us go get her coffee and ours before starting class so I mean teachers could just bring in coffee and snacks for everyone!
6. Coffee Flavor!
This is another important one because if you do not have the flavor people are looking for two things can happen: they will chose something else and not be 100% satisfied or they will leave and find someone who will give it to them. I know during the summer, my mother and I got so mad we could not have our Strawberry Lemonade with two shots of mango to create the drinks made by the Gods! You know why? We suffered because no matter where we went they were either out of strawberry flavor, mango flavor, or BOTH! We are usually patient people and know that it takes time for the shipment to come in, but they told us there was going to be no new shipment and we would have to suffer. Alright so they did not say we had to suffer, but it sounded just like that to my ears for sure!
7. Environment!
Now in this situation it can go either way. I mean Starbucks is has more of a relaxing vibe to it so when trying to read or do homework, that would be the place I would chose. Now I have also done homework at Dunkin late at night when no one is there and it is very nice to study Economics there for awhile. Sometimes sitting at the tables outside of Starbucks is very relaxing at well because when its the right temperature, you have the perfect drink in your hand, and soon everything comes together for a perfect relaxation moment.
8. Snacks!
I know this is a factor for me sometimes because when we go to get these drinks it is around the time for a snack! Now am I feeling a plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese or a chocolate croissant baked so the chocolate is melted? Donuts are alright when the mood for a Boston Creme donut just seems right, but sometimes I want crispy and sweet.
9. Money in your wallet!
For any college students out there, this one is the important one! Will you be swiping your card or giving the cahsier all the money in your wallet down to the last penny? Dunkin Donuts is cheaper than Starbucks sometimes, but of course, 90% of the time it is always cheaper. To save money and get something quick-Dunkin is your choice hands down or maybe even Wawa could be in your vision for some coffee!
10. Shopping Adventure!
This is very important because you could be getting your coffee before, during, and/or after your shopping trip! I say and/or is because some girls need both just in case they got up early for a sale that was going on that needs to be handled at 8:00 AM, which is not this girl right here because she loves her sleep. Now when going into a mall or shopping center, one coffee shop is always there waiting to steal your money: Starbucks. Now this could just be me, but I have never seen a Dunkin Donuts near a shopping area, which I find weird since they could be making a lot of money! I mean I am not complaining as a Gold Member for Starbucks since I am getting discounts and free drinks and food with every swipe!
So let's leave this on a better note: everyone does not run on Dunkin and not everyone wants that perfect Starbucks blend. We may not even need the freer bird from Wawa to save the day when we want something delicious.
I think its just great to say: we all go a little nutty for some coffee beans and a dash of flavor!
