My Top 3 Anime Of The Fall 2016 Season
Haikyuu!!

With the fall season of anime four weeks under way, viewers have started to look into what shows they plan to keep up to date with for the eight remaining weeks. This season has been especially strong with several long-awaited sequels coming back for the fangirl/boy in all of us to squeal about. There have also been some good shows that have started this season that I believe deserve a lot of attention.

1. "Yuri!!! On Ice."

When I started watching this show, I’ll admit, I was very skeptical. The story follows a Japanese male figure skater who fails to make it on an international level, which I wasn’t sure would be that good. The main character, Yuri, goes back to his hometown in Japan and somehow gets turned into an overnight sensation when he copies a routine of someone he’s idolized since the inception of his fascination with ice skating. The story follows Yuri’s attempt to become an excellent skater while dealing with any obstacle that might be in his way.

This show, while having a pretty compelling story, is backed up by amazing art, both audibly and visually. While it has its homoerotic moments (which should be expected from a show about male figure skaters), I have found the show to be pretty damn amazing.

2. “Haikyuu" season three.

This is the number one sequel I was waiting for this season. It’s another sports anime about high school volleyball and it’s damn amazing. The story follows the high school male team of Kurasano and their rise to glory in the world of volleyball. Like anything entertainment-related revolving around sports, characters go through the struggles of losing, and the euphoric feelings of winning. This is one of the qualities that I hold especially dear to the show.

I love pretty much everything about this show. The character dynamics are amazing to watch. With the show being in its third season, we’ve had over 50 episodes to watch these characters develop into amazing players, as well as overcome a lot of trouble along the way. Maybe it’s the part of me who loves a good underdog story, but “Haikyuu” has resonated with me since I first started watching it. While I definitely recommend the show, I highly suggest that if you haven’t seen it, go back to the beginning and watch the growth of an amazing anime.

3. "March Comes in Like a Lion."

This is one of the shows that I had been anticipating for a while, simply because of who created it. The creator, Umino Chika, created one of my all-time favorite anime, “Honey and Clover.” The story in that anime was beautifully and carefully constructed, following several different characters in all sorts of walks of life. “March Comes In…” follows the same trend, though this time more about a single character.

So far, the story follows main character Rei, living by himself as a professional shogi (Japanese chess, kind of) player. The story has been telling the struggles he’s had growing up in his profession as a prodigy, how he was found by a family of three girls who have become a family he could call his own, and how he comes to terms with himself as a person. I cannot recommend this show enough. It’s one of, if not my favorite show of the season.

There are plenty of anime I didn’t cover in this list. I’m interested to hear what you’ve been keeping up on? Whatever it is, I hope you’ve been enjoying the fall anime season.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
