The age-old cure to any heartbreak or breakup is music. A good song can bring you through anything because the lyrics and melody are so powerful when put together. Anything from early 2000s Leona Lewis's "Better in Time" to Camilla Cabello's 2017 "Crying in the Club", the remedial benefits of music has been carried unwaveringly throughout time. Here are some great songs to help YOU:

1. "Better in Time" - Leona Lewis

"I’m going to smile because I deserve to,” and “I’m gonna let you go so I can be free”.

2. "Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely)" - P!nk

“I don't believe Adam and Eve spent every goddamn day together, If you give me some room there will be room enough for two” and “I don't wanna wake up with another, but I don’t wanna always wake up to you either”.

3. "Run" - P!nk

“All the things I’d said I’d do, I wouldn’t hurt you like the world did to me” “Before you walk away, you know you can always run run run back to my arms” “See, here's the bloody, bloody truth, You will hurt and you will lose, I’ve got scars you won't believe, Wear them proudly on my sleeve, I hope you'll have the sense to know, That sadness comes and sadness goes, Love so hard and play life loud, It's the only thing to give a damn about” “All this time I swear I’ll never waste it, all your smiles I’m always gonna save them, put it in the back of my mind, whenever I’m away from you”

“I can be so mean when I wanna be, I am capable of really anything, I can cut you into pieces, When my heart is, broken” ‘I’m always saying how I don't need you, But it's always gonna come right back to this” “How did I become so obnoxious? What is it with you that makes me act like this? I've never been this nasty, Can't you tell that this is all just a contest? The one that wins will be the one that hits the hardest But baby I don't mean it I mean it, I promise” “I can't be without, you're my perfect little punching bag”

4. "Love The Way You Lie Pt. 2" - Eminem (feat. Rihanna)

“It's so insane, Cause when it's going good, It's going great, I’m Superman, With the wind at his back, She's Lois Lane”

5. "Need You Know" - Lady Antebellum

“Another shot of whiskey can't stop looking at the door / wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before. / And I wonder if I ever cross your mind. / For me it happens all the time."

6. "Skinny Love" - Bon Iver

“And in the morning I’ll be with you, but it will be a different kind. And I’ll be holding all the tickets, and you’ll be holding all the fines”

7. "Crying in the Club" - Camilla Cabello

“But I wish there was something you would do or say. To try and make me change my mind and stay. But we never did too much talking anyway. So don’t think twice it’s alright”

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating.
