Buffalonians LOVE to eat. If you asked a Buffalo native what our favorite things to do in Buffalo are, they would say one of three things: watch football, drink beer, and eat. Since our passion is to eat, there are numerous restaurants in town that provide for our extreme love of food. If you live in Buffalo, or are just stopping by, here are the must-see restaurants you must eat at.
1. Tim Hortons
Now, this chain Cafe & Bake Shop may not be a Buffalo specific place, but I can promise you that you'll want to make a stop here. With Tim Hortons being on every corner of every other street, I can promise you that you won't be able to find a Dunkin' Donuts for miles. The hot chocolate is amazing and their baked goods and bagels are to die for. If you didn't come into class late with cup of their coffee in the morning, then you were definitely doing it wrong.
2. Paula's Donuts
Paula's Donuts is the best for a Saturday or Sunday breakfast pit stop. It's even better when you wake up to find them in your very own kitchen, meaning you don't have to leave your house to get their sweet breakfast treats! As a local place, Paula's only has two locations. At these locations you can find a variation of treats such as red velvet donuts, peanut butter filled donuts, pastry hearts the size of your head, and much, much more. If you are a sweet tooth, like I am, you will definitely want to make sure to stop by this place.
3. Break'n Eggs
Break'n Eggs is a personal favorite of mine. This little restaurant on Main Street is always crowded. You could visit on an early Wednesday morning and you most likely won't be the only one looking for a table. Break'n Eggs closes pretty early in the day, but it is worth the wait. You can get any type of crepe you want, including a make your own. Some favorites of mine, in case you were wondering, are the cookies and creme crepe and the s'mores crepe. Their French toast is also the best I have ever had. If you are in town and have the time for the wait, you should definitely make it a priority to visit.
4. The Original Pancake House
Along with the breakfast trend, and if you're not in the mood for anything too fancy or out there, then The Original Pancake House is the place for you. Another crowded place that is certainly worth the wait. Here you can order pancakes, waffles and dutch babies the size of your head. You will be sure to eat well here if you stop on in.
5. Jim's Steak Out
Jim's is the place you want to go to after a night out with friends at two in the morning, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, the food is amazing, but there is something about the food there after a good night out with friends in the early hours of the morning that makes their food magical. The staple item to get there is a Chicken Finger Sub, or The Stinger. They are probably two of the most popular items on the menu. Jim's is also open until four in the morning, so if you're looking for a late night place to snack, look no further.
6. Mighty Taco

7. Lloyd's Taco Truck
You will definitely want to keep your eye out for this bright green taco truck. This taco truck has become a recent obsession for Buffalo over the recent years. An obsession enough that they just opened up a Lloyd's Taco Factory. Here you can purchase enormous burritos. It is very popular for school fundraising and just an all around good stop for food. If you happen to see this truck, don't pass up the opportunity to grab a taco from the famous Lloyd's Taco truck of Buffalo, New York.
8. Pautler's
Pautler's is a Buffalo summertime classic. Here you can get a variety of different foods. The curly fries are a must. You know when you see their parking lot packed with cars that Pautler's is back and open for business. It's a great place for an after school hangout or some night time ice cream with your family. Nothing says summer quite like Pautler's.
9. Bocce Club Pizza
Pizza is a classic in Buffalo. With it being such a popular choice of food, different local pizza places are constantly in competition with each other. Bocce's is a place that never has to worry about competition though. It has been around since 1946 and it is there to stay. If you're interested in the perfect game day pizza, you have just found it.
10. Duff's Famous Wings
Here we are. Finally at the home and inventor of Buffalo Wings. Buffalo Wings are a staple food item of Buffalo and something that we are widely known for. It is a must to stop at Duff's when in Buffalo. There is nothing like the tasty sauce of one of Duff's Buffalo Wings, so stop on in, and see for yourself what it's like to eat at the place where Buffalo Wings were invented.
11. The Chocolate Bar
The Chocolate Bar is a must stop place. In downtown Buffalo, not only will you be able to eat the most amazing food and drink the most amazing drinks, but you are sure to have a great time afterwards with all that there is to do downtown. You first have to start of with a Chocolate Martini. It is a must. Next, you cannot go wrong with any entree that you choose. Finally, dessert will most definitely be going on that night's check. I mean, you can't go to a place called "The Chocolate Bar" and NOT get dessert. It just doesn't happen. So stop on by and enjoy putting yourself into the sweetest food coma of your life.
12. 716 Food and Sport
Now, here is a new establishment, but a restaurant that embodies everything about Buffalo. You have your beer, your food, and most importantly your football, and also a plethora of other sports, such as hockey, but like I said most importantly football. This new bar and restaurant is very lively at all times and also a place that is frequently packed. If you're looking for a spot to figure out what Buffalo is all about, then this is it.
I hope that you all get to experience the food delicacies of each of the places listed above. These are just a few of my favorite places to eat at in Buffalo, but I can promise you that no matter where you go, you will be sure to eat well, and get treated by nothing but the best, because that's Buffalo for you. Enjoy!
