Everyone loves a good romantic comedy. Don’t hide it. Embrace it. Take a look at these little gems found right on our own very best friend, Netflix.
1. "Pride & Prejudice"
"In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."
All right. Admittedly, some would just put this in the romance column. Personally, I find Mr. Darcy’s hair to be reason enough to laugh. Regardless, this classic film ties together love and life in the best and most captivating way.
2. "50 First Dates"
“I was so nervous to come here and meet the guy that makes me fall in love with him every day.”
3. "Maid in Manhattan"
“To serve people takes dignity and intelligence. But remember, they are only people with money. And although we serve them, we are not their servants. What we do, Miss Ventura, does not define who we are. What defines us is how well we rise after falling.”
This absurdly wonderful movie received a 5/10 on IMDB, but in my book, it’s an 11. "Maid in Manhattan" combines sweet comedy and everyday life in a way like none other.
4. "13 Going on 30"
“Wait, listen to me. I'm 13! – Jenna, if you’re gonna start lying about your age, I’d go with 27.”
Who else has ever wished they could wake up and magically be 30 with a dream job and dream life? This rom-com perfectly captures the reality of that bizarrely appealing dream.
5. "The Wedding Date"
“The hardest thing is loving someone and then having the courage to let them love you back.”
6. "Grease"
“Uh, I'm not very hungry; just give me a double Polar Burger with everything and a cherry soda with chocolate ice cream.”
7. "Notting Hill"
“I live in Notting Hill, you live in Beverly Hills -- everyone in the world knows who you are. ... I’m also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
8. "Bridget Jones’s Diary"
“I don't think you're an idiot at all. I mean, there are elements of the ridiculous about you. But the thing is, um, what I'm trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances, I like you, very much. Just as you are.”
9. "Along Came Polly"
“And you know what? When you least expect, something great might come along. Something better then you even planned for.”
10. "Clueless"
“As if.”
