Walking in to be greeted by my dog Scooby is the highlight of my day. He is always so happy to see me. He is an adorable little boxer-german shepard mix that ironically resembles a clutzy warthog. He flops, trots, grunts, and farts just like one and certainly has short legs and a pudgy tummy to match! I have found a lot more comfort in my warthog than I have in people the past year which has shown me the simple truth: dogs are better than people and I'll tell you why.

1. They're unfairly photogenic, even with those creepy eyes they get when you use the flash

Seriously, you look great Scoob. You don't look a day over 2 or a pound over 30.

2. They are ALWAYS happy

Doesn't he have a great smile? I don't know when the last time a person smiled at me like that. Stay happy doggo.

3. They're great movie dates

He is the only one I get to talk to about Gossip Girl.

4. They're always sleepy because being a happy dog and giving so much love takes a lot out of a puppers.

That snoring can make it hard to share the bed with them though.

5. Dogs give the best cuddles

This was the morning after I arrived in Alaska. We had been apart for six months. Nothing changed. He deserves a snuggle award.

6. They also give the best hugs

Dogs are therapy. See one, hug one, pet one, get kissed by one, I guarantee you'll feel 100% cured of your worries.

7. They do the cutest things

HOW can you say "no" to that face? Sometimes you look down at your furbaby and squeal so loudly at their cuteness that you scare them into thinking that you're hurt. Then they give you kisses to make sure you're okay. Then you're heart melts and you're putty in their paws. Cute little hairballs they are. (Look at those little white toes!)

8. They're always concerned about your well-being

Everybody knows this face. This is that tilted head look that a dog gives you when you make a funny noise (or open any kind of food wrapper). They love you as much as you love them and want to make sure you're okay by protecting you from the mailman or eating that popcorn for you just incase it was poisoned.

9. Dogs always have an hear to listen to you

Even if it's 3 am and they're half asleep, they can spare a few hours of sleep to hear about how angry you are at Carol because that's what friends do.

10. They're altogether more fun than humans

If you asked someone to dress as a hotdog for Halloween, I doubt they'd go for it. Dogs are up for anything! They'll chase cars, eat sticks, howl at the moon with you, help kick your partner out of bed when you're angry at them, be your vaccum cleaner for anything you may have dropped at dinner, and most importantly- will never pass judgement upon you. They love us and we love them and that's all that matters to them and THAT is why dogs will always be better, smarter, and more kind than people.
