We have finally reached release-crazy season! Fall is the season where developers aim to shoot for game releases and man is it an exciting time for us gamers. Even though are wallets soon appear empty, our game library certainly is not. So here are the top 10 games releasing this month that I'm looking forward to.
1. Dragon Age: Inquisition Game of the Year Edition
(Xbox One, PS4, PC) - Oct. 6
Dragon Age: Inquisition was released back in November 2014. This fantasy-action RPG was absolutely lovely playing and I definitely obsessed over it for hours upon hours, roaming around Thedas. With such a great game almost being a year old, of course it has been given a GOTY (Game of the Year) edition. This edition will include the main game, as well as all of the major after launch DLC such as; The Descent, Jaws of Hakkon and Tresspaer DLC add-ons.Along with these add-ons there will be other additional upgrades, new weapons, gear, etc. Gotta love GOTY goodies, which are always convenient if you have yet to play the game, but really want to start delving into the world.
2. Rock Band 4
(Xbox One, PS4) - Oct. 6
Finally after waiting three years for a new Rock Band we get one! I'm pretty stoked that Harmonix was nice enough to let us hold onto backwards compatibility. Players that have existing tracks and PS3/XB360 instruments will be able to use them in the newest installment, which is fantastic for people that have been following the Rock Band series.
3. Chibi-Robo Zip Lash
(3DS) - Oct. 9
Chibi Robo from the grand Gamecube days is back on the 3DS for his newest adventure. I myself am a big fan of platforming games and I definitely enjoyed playing Chibi-Robo! Plug Into Adventure! so I have no doubts whatsoever that I will feel any differently with Zip Lash especially with Nintendo's new amiibo/NFC compatibility that you can use to help you throughout the game.
4. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
(PS4) - Oct. 9
While we all patiently wait for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End to release, Naughty Dog and Blue Point were kind enough to give us Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, a remaster of all three Uncharted games that have been released on the Playstation 4. Replaying one through three will still be as exciting as the first run and a nice refreshment of the series to prepare for A Thief's End.
5. Dragon Quest Heroes
(PS4) - Oct. 13
In this new Dragon Quest, monsters that once lived peacefully with humans in Arba have suddenly switched over and have started fighting against mankind, going on a full on rampage. The heroes must now protect their land against this riot and go into action fighting the monsters throughout the game.
6. Minecraft: Story Mode - Episode 1: The Order of the Stone
(Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, PC) - Oct. 13
Minecraft got a story mode! Of course the great developers over at Mojang are working alongside TellTale this time they've made a pretty good set of games in the past like "The Walking Dead" series, "Back to the Future" and "Tales From the Borderlands." Minecraft itself is already fun, but I cannot wait to experience it in a role-playing story mode where your choices affect the game to suit them.
7. Yoshi's Woolly World
(Wii U) - Oct. 16
Yoshi's Woolly World is another great Nintendo platformer that I'm very excited to play. Ever since I saw the trailer and saw the yarn inspired art-style throughout the game I was immediately sold. Yoshi's arch nemesis Kamek the wizard is back to his mischievous ways and turns Yoshis into bundles of yarn and it's the duty of two remaining Yoshi's to save their yarn friends.
8. Guitar Hero Live
(Xbox One, 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U) - Oct. 20
With a new Rock Band there of course is a new Guitar Hero and I am definitely not complaining. I have always gravitated a bit more Guitar Hero and have spent many late nights playing the track list over and over from easy to expert, swinging my plastic guitar around like a 80's hair metal maniac. The new concept of GHLive is the addition of a playable music video network where you can play along to music videos and be broadcasted across the network. In all honestly Guitar Hero's track list speaks to me way more than Rock Band 4's list of playable songs. Between the two Guitar Hero seems to have a new conceptual vibe to it and I certainly alright with that.
9. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
(3DS) - Oct. 22
New Legend of Zelda for 3DS...need I say more? This is one of the top games in my list of new releases that I'm most excited for. The art-style is a combination of Wind Waker and A Link Between Worlds which were two solid Zelda games that were really enjoyable to play. This game relies on cooperation in which three different players play as various colors of Link and work together to defeat enemies, conquer puzzles, somewhat similar to how Four Swords Adventures was like game play wise. All in all it'll be fun to share the experience of being The Hero while playing with friends.
10. Halo 5: Guardians
(Xbox One) - Oct. 27
With Microsoft's new Xbox One console, how could you not expect them to make a new Halo for it. Like any other Halo fan, I am counting down the days until I can sit in front of my tv and revel in the fantasy first-person shooter that I've grown attached to throughout the years. Even though I am quite hurt by the fact that there will be no split screen, I know I'll still enjoy the game.
