2016 was a year where most of the films I was anticipating definitely disappointed me. I hope that won't be the case for 2017, as they are tons of films I'm looking forward to. We're getting a new Star Wars film, a Justice League film and many others. But, I'm also excited for some of these films due to the talent involved.
NOTE: This list is subjective and these are the films that I'm looking forward to the most.
10. "Going in Style" - 4/7
Zach Braff's third directorial effort stars Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin as three older gentlemen who decide to rob the bank that stole their pensions. It looks silly, but a lot of fun. The main reason I'm anticipating this movie is because of Zach Braff. He's one of my favorite people in Hollywood and I have not disliked any of the films he directed: Garden State and Wish I Was Here. I'm really excited to also see Braff tackle a "mainstream" film, because he's been focused primarily in the indie department.
9. "Beauty and the Beast" - 3/17
Disney has been crushing it with their live-action adaptations of their animations, since 2015's Cinderella. When you have the director of Dreamgirls and the screenwriter of The Perks of Being a Wallflower team up for a live-action Beauty and the Beast... you have to be excited! The cast is insane, as we have Emma Watson and Dan Stevens leading as our "Beauty and Beast". The trailers have gotten to me and I firmly believe this could be another masterpiece in Disney's books.
8. "Alien: Covenant" - 5/19

7. "Dunkirk" - 7/21

6. "War for the Planet of the Apes" - 7/14

5. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" - 5/5
Baby Groot... need I say more?
4. T2: Trainspotting - 3/3
“Choose life. Choose Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and hope that someone, somewhere cares. Choose looking up old flames, wishing you’d done it all differently. And choose watching history repeat itself. Choose your future."
The original Trainspotting from 1996 is a masterpiece from director Danny Boyle, who returns to helm the highly anticipated sequel. The script and characters in that film are extremely well-balanced to the point where it's hard to not like that film. The actors are all back and I know nothing about this sequel. I cannot wait to revisit Renton, Sick Boy, Spud and Begbie, as we see what they are like in 2017.
3. "Logan" - 3/3

2. "Star Wars: Episode VIII" - 12/15

But in reality, I'm excited to go back and see all these characters, especially Luke! That ending from TFA was insane!
1. "Blade Runner 2049" - 10/6
Full disclosure: I've only seen Blade Runner once and that was about five years ago.
When I heard Denis Villeneuve was helming the Blade Runner sequel, I was immediately hooked because of him. All the films he has directed since 2013 have been wonderful. The teaser that we got a few weeks back shows why Villeneuve is one of the best. Harrison Ford is back as Rick Deckard and he is joined by our new lead played by Ryan Gosling, who is on fire right now. It's my most anticipated, simply because of the talent. And plus, Roger Deakins' cinematography looks breathtaking for this film.
