Top 10 Middle School Dance Songs

I absolutely love to listen to old music. Old music takes me back to middle school dances. Let's be honest, middle school dances were the highlight of everyone's preteen years. You would go home from school on a Friday and get dressed up to go to a dance that night. Most of the time, one of my friends would go home from school with me and we would go to my house and do our hair, get dressed up, and anticipate going to a dance that night. Think about all the songs you would dance to. Think about how much you would try to impress your crush when he saw you dance to Soulja Boy in the middle of dance floor. As I have said, I love old music and the nostalgia that old music brings me. Here are my top 10 favorite "throwback" songs from middle school dances.

1. Umbrella - Rihanna

I know every word to this song still to this day. This was my number one song in the word when it came out. I would listen to this song all day everyday.

2. Tik Tok - Ke$ha

Let me tell you. This song was my absolute JAM at the middle school dances. When this song came out, I was all about it. I honestly felt that this song defined me as a person, but it did not whatsoever.

3. I'm Yours - Jason Mraz

If you went out with someone in middle school and this wasn't "your song," what were you actually listening to? Honestly, everyone loved this song. I remember I went to a birthday party with a DJ and this was the last song played and everyone slowed danced to this song. It was honestly everyone's favorite song at one time or another. I remember it being on my MySpace wall...

4. Drop It Like It's Hot - Snoop Dogg

If you don't like this song, I don't like you. SNOOP. Oh my gosh. I don't even have words for this song.

5. Cyclone - Baby Bash and T-Pain

This song was my alarm for over a year. My best friend still hates this song to this day, because I slept through it for about 20 minutes and she has to listen to the continuous loop of it. This was seriously one of the best songs at a dance though, because everyone knew this song.

6. Pop, Lock, and Drop It - Huey

I still know the dance, I can still do the dance, and I still love the song. Honestly, this was my least favorite dance, because you just continuously did it for 4 minutes, but I still love it.

7. Hollaback Girl - Gwen Stefani

Let's be honest. This is the only reason I know how to perfectly spell B-a-n-a-n-a-s. Because this song is still bananas.

8. Glamorous - Fergie

Fergie is another reason why I know how to spell. Glamorous was one of her best songs in my opinion. It was right next to Fergalicious. Those were her songs and my favorite songs for a long time.

9. Yeah! - Usher

If you did not get as lit as possible when this song came on at a dance, then you truly have never lived. That's all I'm gonna say. But I'm also gonna say, if you haven't listened to this song and been super excited, then I suggest you reevaluate your priorities.

10. Crank That - Soulja Boy

Last, but certainly not least, Crank That. If you didn't know this dance, you had never been to a dance and you probably didn't have a life in middle school. If you didn't run to the middle of the floor to Crank That then you had to learn from the side lines and watch everyone have a great time. I honestly don't even remember learning this dance. I think I just learned it by osmosis or something.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
