The Top 10 Fall Fashion Week Trends To Follow

It is finally October and in Florida that does not necessarily mean fall weather, but it can mean fall fashion. New York Fashion Week recently ended and we saw many trends that will be filling the stores.

Denim everything

Denim has never been out of style, but this fall denim will be popular and not just as jeans. Jeans with embellishments or distress are gaining popularity. Also, over-sized denim jackets are a way to make any simple t-shirt and jeans edgy and they are actually very warm for when it cools down.

High-neck shirts and dresses

Turtle necks and high necklines on dresses were a very popular trend at Fashion Week. You can layer a turtle neck under a sweater or wear a high neck dress under one. These dresses are easy to dress up or down with other accessories.

Statement booties

Boots are always a fall essential, but this fall the booties should be the statement piece of the outfit. Pair this stand-out footwear with simple jeans and a T, so all the attention is on your feet.

Metallic booties

Ruffle accents

Ruffles were also a big trend at Fashion Week. Ruffles on shirts, at the bottom of sleeves and on dresses are a girly accent that can make a simple dress or shirt much more dresses up. Going overboard with this accent though can make you look more like a pirate, so wear this trend sparingly. Bell sleeves are a great way to avoid being too over the top.

Neutrals

Fall colors are often thought of as burgundy, brown or olive, but this fall wearing monochromatic neutrals is on trend. Wearing all beige can seem boring, but fun accessories can make these outfits very stylish. Also tan and grey are a great combo that is less boring and incorporates these neutrals.

Off-the-shoulder tops

Off-the-shoulder dresses and tops are perfect for wearing out. You can showing off some skin but not too much so it is still classy. A choker is a great accessory to pair with these tops. These are also very cute with denim skirts.

Mini skirts

The mini skirt is also great for wearing out. Remember to always keep these at least to the length that covers your bottom. A mini skirt can make anyone legs look longer and are perfect to pair with the statement booties mentioned above.

Velvet

Velvet has always been a staple in fall fashion. It is warm and comfortable, but can look very edgy and fashionable. Velvet details are also very in for fall, such as a velvet choker or headband.

Fur

Fur was huge on the runway this year, from fur collars on shirts and jackets, to full fur coats. Faux-fur is also a better option than real because it is so much cheaper.

Neck ties and chokers

Chokers are continuing to be very popular, but a newer trend at Fashion Week was neck ties for women. These are a great accessory for a simple outfit, and they will make you stand out.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
