Looking for the perfect Christmas movie to watch this holiday season? Here are the top 10 Christmas movies out there.

10. The Santa Clause

Starring Tim Allen, Judge Reinfolrd, Wendy Crewson

This is a set of three, but personally, I believe the first is the best. It is about a man, Scott Calvin, who tries to reconnect with his young son, Charlie, at Christmas, and along the way ends up becoming Santa Claus. This is a tale that has some sad moments, but in the end, it follows the hero motif and shows us how everyone can stand to believe in Santa Claus for a little while.

9. Deck the Halls

Starring Matthew Broderick, Danny DeVito, Kristin Chenoworth

My cousins and I watch this movie every year on Christmas day. It's about two neighbors who compete to have the best Christmas lights in the world, ones that can be seen from space. It’s based off of the song "Deck the Halls," and is a funny family movie, fit for all ages.

8. Jingle All the Way

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, Phil Hartman

This movie is properly the most different on the list. In it, a dad tries every way possible to get a toy that he promised to his son. It's definitely the most materialistic on the list, but shows how important love is at Christmas time.

7. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Starring Billie Mae Richards, Burl Ives, Larry D. Mann

This movie is about the lovable Rudolf, and is based off the Christmas song with the same name. Rudolf feels unloved by those around him, and goes on a journey with many mythical creatures to begin believing in himself. It’s an adorable Christmas classic, and is a great Christmas movie which inspired many more.

6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Starring Jim Carrey, Taylor Momsen, Kelley

This is a movie about a man who hates Christmas, and tries to stop it from happening. This movie is on the list due to the fact that it’s the only one based off of a Dr. Seuss book, along with the 1960’s animated classic.

5. Elf

Starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, Bob Newhart

We all know this Christmas classic about a man who lived his life in the North Pole as an elf, and now must adapt to life as a human in New York, while connecting with his birth father. This made the list for its many jokes, entertainment value, and stunning cast.

4. Home Alone/Home Alone 2

Starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern

These are a series of movies about a young boy, Kevin Macallister, trying to protect his house from robbers at Christmas time. This is a laughable Christmas movie, one about friendship, protection, and Christmas. This movie is filled with Christmas joy and enjoyable moments between unlikely characters.

3. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town

Starring Fred Astire, Mickey Roone, Keenan Wynn

This is one of the oldest on the list, and is about the origins of Santa Claus, where he must decipher a way to deliver toys to the people of a town where happiness and toys are banned. It’s a great origin story, and my mother’s personal favorite. It has stop-animation, and involves many fairy-tale creatures.

2. The Year Without a Santa Clause

Starring Shirley Booth, Mickey Rooney, Dick Shawn

This is the Christmas classic starring the Miser Brothers. The story follows two elves, Jingle and Jangle, as they go in search of Christmas cheer, as Santa has quit because this is no Christmas cheer left in the world. It’s a feel-good movie, and entertaining for all ages. I believe it is the best animated movie of the season, as it has an amazing score, many familiar characters, and has the stop-animation that so many other adorable Christmas classics are know for.

1. The Polar Express

Starring Tom Hanks, Chris Coppola, Michael Jeter

This is my all-time favorite Christmas movie. I love the music, especially the hot chocolate song, along with the plot. It follows a young boy as he embarks on an adventure to the North Pole on a mythical train that takes Children to see Santa. The animation is insane, and so is the fact that this movie also resides over “Christmas Magic”.

These movies will put you right into the Christmas spirit!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
