Although Thanksgiving is hardly behind us, I can already smell the gingerbread and peppermint in the air! There's nothing more wonderful than the Christmas season; shopping, caroling, Christmas plays, trees, lights, hot chocolate and on and on.

When school is finally out, and you need a day or two of rest and Christmas festivities, there's nothing more suitable than endless hours of Christmas movies. So grab your footy pajamas and make an endless supply of Christmas cookies because it's time to enjoy the Top 10 Christmas movies to enjoy this holiday season!

1. "Elf"

"Santa! Oh my gosh! I know him!" There's no other elf that can get you in the Christmas spirit quicker than Buddy! Join Buddy and the friends he makes along the way as he searches for his biological father in New York City. Along the way, Buddy brings Christmas joy back to the Big Apple. This movie will have you ready to walk through New York City in an elf costume singing "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town."

2. "The Santa Clause" (1, 2 and 3)

What happens when Santa dies? Well, that's where the "Santa Clause" comes in. Through this series of films, you follow Scott Calvin and his journey from being Scrooge to Kris Kringle, himself while trying to make amends with his son, Charlie. Be sure to have your Christmas cookies ready! Once you begin one, you'll have to finish all three!

3. "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation"

I know you think your family is bad over the holidays, but I don't think there's a crazier family out there than the Griswolds! This movie might not be the most appropriate for the younger generation, but it's the perfect movie to enjoy with friends. Watch Clark try and keep the peace within his nutty family, while attempting to keep Christmas traditions alive. Unfortunately for him, the combination of the two was more difficult than he anticipated.

4. "Home Alone" (1 and 2)

Let's face it, we all wanted to be Kevin McCallister. Although the "Home Alone" franchise continued making films three, four and five, nothing will ever top the Macaulay Culkin generation. Although his family seems to be the most forgetful people around Christmas time, Kevin always finds a way to enjoy the holidays. Even when robbers attempt to take over the house, he sets up traps and shows them who the real boss is. Grab a carton of ice cream and "Merry Christmas ya filthy animal!"

5. "The Polar Express"

"All aboard!" Let's face it, we are all suckers for anything starring Tom Hanks, especially a good Christmas movie! Climb aboard the Polar Express and experience the magical adventures of children across the globe find their Christmas spirit on the majestic train headed straight to the North Pole where one of them will be chosen to receive the first gift of Christmas. Grab your hot, hot, hot chocolate because "Next stop, the North Pole!"

6. "The Grinch" or "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

Rather it's the original cartoon version or Jim Carry, there's nothing more Christmasy than the Grinch, himself. We all love a good success story, and this is the most popular of the holiday season. Watch as the Grinch goes from hating Christmas in Whoville to finding his true Christmas spirit with the help of Cindy Lou Who.

7. "A Christmas Story"

Let's face it, we all wanted an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle; even though we had no clue what that was! But, it's ok because Ralphie wanted it, so it must be pretty awesome. This movie will take you on a journey with Ralphie Parker and his many shenanigans. This movie always taught me one very important lesson: never stick your tongue on a frozen pole.

8. Anything on Hallmark

You are lying to yourself by even attempting to deny your love for the 24-hour Hallmark Holiday Movies. Sure, they might be the most corny movies on this planet, but they all end in happy endings and Christmas cheer. Who doesn't love that? Grab your blanket and your honey and spend an entire day watching Hallmark movie after Hallmark movie.

9. "It's A Wonderful Life"

There's nothing more classic than "It's A Wonderful Life". If you don't watch it at least once, then did you even Christmas? When George Bailey wishes he were never born, an angel shows him how different the lives of his loved ones would be without him around. This heart-wrenching story will put anyone and everyone is the Christmas spirit.

10. "A Christmas Carol" (any and every version)

"Bah humbug!" This has to be one of the most popular Christmas stories of all time. You could make a day of just watching each and every version of the story. Ebenezer Scrooge first made his way to the big screen back in 1938 as a redemption of a novel written by the great Charles Dickens. Since then, the story has been retold and recreated more than any classic film. Disney even recreated the stories through The Muppets and Mickey.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
