Dear Mom,
I think that sometimes in the craziness of life, we forget to take time and admire the ones we love. So, I am going to take this time to say, “thank you.”
I have watched you love others with your whole heart. I have watched you be proud of others. I have watched you cry. I have watched you build people together. I have watched you tackle difficult moments. I have watched you since the day I was born, and damn, I wouldn't want to watch anyone else.
Thank you for your support. If it weren't for your constant encouragement and understanding I wouldn't be where I am today. As I get older, we don't always see eye to eye on everything but you still stand by me. You have been there through my mistakes and my best moments. You always have confidence that I will figure it out in the end and make the right decisions for myself.
I am blessed to have a mom who puts my own wants before her own needs. You have sacrificed so much to help me get where I am today and It will never go unrecognized.
Thank you for passing down your best qualities. Everyone knows where my independence and sass comes from and I’ll give you a hint- it’s not Dad. You have taught me to stand up for what I believe in no matter what anyone else says. Because of you, I am not afraid and never back down. I am a straight talker, but I believe am a better person for it.
Thank you for teaching me the importance of hard work. You and Dad have worked your asses off to be where our family is today. You have pushed me to be a better version of myself and to work for the things I want rather than expect them to be given to me. I know that the perfect opportunity won’t ever fall into my hands, I have to work for it. There is nothing I want more than to make you proud.
I hope I can be half of what you are someday. I used to laugh at people when they said some day we would be best friends, but now you are the relationship I value the most. Thank you for not only bringing me into this world but also showing me what it’s all about.
Love,
Your Daughter
