To The Teacher That Assigned Homework During Little 500 Week:

To the teacher that assigned homework during little 500 week:

I have just one question for you: why?!

Not only did you compromise my plans for the week, but you are completing missing the point that the greatest college week in nearly upon us. Also about those days that attendance is mandatory during the actual week of little 500, what were you thinking? Now you know that the amount of people who will really attend is very slim. This is just cold hearted if you ask me.

Here is to the Sunday that I will be staying up until the late hours of the night getting everything done before the week, because come on, let’s be honest, I’m going to procrastinate until the last second. Here is to the Sunday that I will be pouring coffee down my throat in hopes that it will somehow make me finish all my homework and fast at that. Here is to the hopes that I not only finish my homework, but also retain all the information that I am learning.

This is the week where college student’s energy levels are compromised by non stop partying and events that go on all week; where homework is the farthest thing from the mind because it is filled with the thoughts of the memories that will be made during this week.

With this being said I have 5 perfectly exceptional reasons why assigning work due during this glorious week is more than wrong:

1.My work won’t be nearly as good. It’s just a fact. While my body may be in class, my mind is day dreaming of bike races, parties, and thriving on elevated surfaces.

2. It’s like assigning homework on Christmas. Little 5 is basically a holiday to the people of Indiana University. It is a time where more than 25,000 fans gather around to celebrate and watch the largest collegiate bike race in the United States. This is something to want to experience to it’s full capacity. It isn’t really so little, trust me.

3. This is the only week out of the school year that you can say “because it’s little 5” and need no more of an explanation. This is the best excuse out there for this week. If there’s something that you need to do and can’t, always blame it on little 500 and no one will even think of questioning you.

4. Speaking of the entire year, all events are planned around little 500. Almost every event that takes place during the school year is planned is reflected by the events of little 500. People gear up for this, by planning their entire months at a glance in order to ensure their freedom during this glorious week.

5. Concerts, parties, music, friends, and bikes. Need I say more?

So after hearing these reasons I ask just one more time, why do you think it’s a good reason to assign homework during the greatest college week in America?

I’ll answer for you, it isn’t!

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
