To The Person Struggling With Self-Love

You really should go and love yourself.

How many times have you felt like no one could ever love you? Have you ever sat down and thought about all the things you could change in order to make you better, in order to make you lovable? You, as you are right now, are worthy of love. You are lovable, and despite all the flaws you think you have, which are not flaws, you are perfect.

There is not a thing you should change. You don't need to lose weight to find love, and you don't need to dye your hair, wear tight clothes or even wear makeup to cover your "imperfections." No, honey, you don't need to change a thing about yourself. Give yourself the love you deserve. Love the beautiful person you are, despite the Eurocentric beauty standards. Love the color of your skin, even if it isn't white. As a matter of fact, love your skin more if it is colored. Love the color of your eyes, even if they are brown because brown is beautiful. Love your body. Give it all the love it needs, don't tell yourself that you need to lose weight to be beautiful. Instead, if you want to, exercise, so you can be outside and be stronger, faster, healthier and live longer. Look at yourself in the mirror every day and tell yourself you are beautiful. Tell yourself you love yourself until you believe it is true. Give yourself a compliment every day. Love yourself every day.

Love yourself despite the scars on your body. Love every stretch mark, every birthmark, every freckle, every scar, even if it came from acne. Love every inch of your body. What are you doing now? You are breathing. You are living, thinking and functioning because of your body. Love the brain in your head that allows you to think, learn, speak, sing and shout. Love the body that allows you to walk and continue breathing even when you are asleep. Stop thinking about what you could change to make you better because you truly are breathtakingly beautiful. Love your personality. Without it, you wouldn't be you.

Love yourself when you're laughing that cute one-of-a-kind little laugh of yours. So what if you snort or laugh with your mouth wide open? You are laughing because you are genuinely happy, so celebrate your happiness. You can't see it, but also love the way your face lights up and the way the universe sparkles through your eyes – anyone lucky enough to bear witness to such glory, admires it.

Remember to love yourself when you feel like the world is falling over your shoulders. You are a Redwood tree. You are strong, and you will survive the storm. You will stand tall and firm against the fierce winds. You will prevail against all odds, against every obstacle. Don't be afraid of what is to come or the future because you will handle it gracefully. You are strong. You can do the impossible.

Remind yourself that you are loved, that you love yourself unconditionally. You are beautiful. You are loved.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
