What is happiness? If you Google it, you'll get, "feeling or showing pleasure or contentment." That is the standard definition of happy. But what does that even mean?

For a long time, I did not know the answer to that question. I found temporary meanings in temporary things. Which all eventually wore off and left me standing there still trying to figure out the answer to that question. All I wanted, all I ever wanted was to feel pure happiness. I use to listen to music where people would sing about wanting happiness. It made me feel better knowing that I wasn't the only one who couldn't find an answer to that question. My best friend showed me one song in particular that really sparked something for me, that song being "Pursuit Of Happiness" by Kid Cudi. After she showed me that song, I listened to it non-stop. My roommates even banned me from playing it around them because they got sick of hearing it all the time. It was the words that grabbed me. The meaning behind them. To me, the meaning of that song described what I was thinking. It was saying that it's okay to not be happy for the time being. You should still live and enjoy life, because one day you'll get it, you'll find it. And then everything will be good. That song gave me positive hope. I lived my life differently after I found that song. I started viewing life as a journey to happiness and I didn't feel broken for not knowing what it was.

Then several months later, I met you. When we first met, I had no idea that you would be the person to help me finally discover the meaning I'd been searching for. I got know you and I got to see the inside of your soul and I finally figured out what happiness was. I found it the night were driving in your car and 'Pursuit of Happiness' came on. I started singing and to my surprise, you joined in. We sang the entire song on the top of our lungs and in that moment, I felt happy. Ever since I met you, I've learned so many new things about what happiness is.

Happiness isn't just one feeling. Happiness is all of the feelings. Happiness is following your heart and doing something you love because you love it, even if other people don't. Happiness is doing things for others just to see the smile it puts on their face. Happiness is the feeling I get when you look at me. When I'm with you. Because you showed me that happiness is not a destination. It's is not something you get and then suddenly you feel magical 24/7, all the time. Happiness is about the journey. Happiness is a feeling. You'll still have good days and bad days. It's okay to have sad days, that doesn't mean you lost the joy. You showed me that happiness is a choice. Happiness is a state of mind. You make me happy.

Thanks to you, I learned that just because you're having a sad day, it doesn't mean you aren't happy. So thank you. Thank you for helping me feel what genuine happiness is like. Thank you for helping me answer the question that has always left me speechless. Thank you for believing in me and always making me feel good inside. I am so thankful you came into my life. I am a different person today in the best way possible, thanks to you.

So now when I listen to "Pursuit of Happiness," I finally feel fine. I'm finally good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
