I think sometimes it's hard for us to see past the familiar. It is easier to hold on to people, activities, and goals because we think we know them. We've grown attached to the predictable. Attached to the titles, the positions, the people, the comfortable. At first, you think if it's not broken why fix it? Why change what we're used to? Why break away from that friendship that no longer grows you, that involvement that no longer builds you, and the ideas we have of what our lives should look like. It's scary. Scary to finally stop caring and let go. Let go of the BS. To step into who you are and what you deserve even if you're stepping alone. Honestly y'all it's easier said than done. But don't you think it's time? Don't you think it's time to give up on anything or anyone that's already given up on you? I don't know if it comes with age or experience, but I can't shake the feeling that it's time to eliminate the familiar if that familiar ain't faithful. What does that mean exactly? Eliminate the ideas of what your current life should look like and enjoy all that it actually is. Eliminate everyone's ideas and expectations of who you should be. Eliminate that friend that can't seem to give you what you give to them. Eliminate the fantasy world of comfort. Matter of fact...
Get uncomfortable.
Stop chasing people, titles, fantasies just because you always have. In this life, we go through seasons. Seasons of growth, seasons of pain, and seasons of abundance. However, in each season no matter which one you find yourself in... there is always the element of change. So stop fighting it. Stop resisting that necessary change. Listen to that voice inside your head that tells you to let them go. Listen to the voice that's calling you to move on. Listen to the voice that reminds you that you're meant for so much more. So much more than a small life of forgettable titles, social status, and overrated relationships. Let this voice sell you on the ultimate truth. Change is in place in all of these seasons because they are temporary. Temporary relationships, temporary status, and temporary comfort. You see, a life worth living is one in which you're not disappointed in the present but grateful for where you are. Grateful for who you are and who you're with. Grateful that no matter how temporary this life is there is an eternal reward that far outweighs them all. And because of that reward, there is absolutely nothing wrong with letting go. There's nothing wrong with moving into the next season of your life with your head held high and your eyes full of hope. There is nothing wrong with outgrowing a place, a town, a school, a relationship. There's nothing wrong with embracing the change that releases the temporary.
So be bold.
Be bold in your release of the seasonal. Be bold in your choice to step into all that IS for you. Know that you're not alone and that not all change is bad change. Don't settle for the less than present out of fear of the unknown future. Rise above it. Rise above the box you and others placed yourself into. Be bold in your pursuit of the life that you deserve. Be bold in your decision to rid yourself of the temporary.
