Dear You,

You're visiting today and are surrounded by people you'll probably have classes with and that's super cool.

Yes, there are flowers planted because you guys are visiting but that’s because they want you to love the campus. (Spoiler: the campus is pretty with and without flowers)

Yes, they also put out fancy desserts and had the good ice cream because they knew there was a big group of people visiting - don’t get used to it if you come here because that doesn’t happen often but it makes it ten times better when it does happen.

Yes, it always rains here. Buy an umbrella.

You are going to LOVE being able to wake up at 2:20 and get to class by 2:30. Our amazing small campus is such a blessing because you can get from one side to the other in five minutes (maybe less if you know the shortcuts).

The food here is actually really good but you’ll probably get sick of the different kinds of burritos they offer so get creative! Make cheese/chicken tortillas and dip them in guac, make sandwiches, or make killer salads. (Or just have cereal for all meals because that is also totally acceptable).

You have to hit (yes, physically hit) the Dr. Pepper spout to make it stop coming out. You’re welcome. Find me and I’ll demonstrate.

TAKE THE FRESH FRUIT THEY HAVE OUT!! Bananas and pears are such an amazing snack while studying and cut up oranges are really good (and healthy) in water.

Get involved on campus! It’s really hard not to. If you don’t want to get involved, you’ll probably end up volunteered for something anyway, so you might as well just do it of your own free will. Whether it be a sorority/fraternity, Religious group, service group, or something else, it’s an awesome way to meet people.

Be friends with your RA!!!! And your professors!!!! (go to their offices and just get to know them, it’s SO worth it).

Don’t tell, but I use silverware from the cafeteria and then I’ll return it at the end of the year. I’ve saved money since I don’t have to keep buying plastic ware. Also, ramen is way easier to eat with a real fork than a flimsy plastic one.

BTW, yes you’ll actually eat a lot of ramen.

Please please please please don’t burn your popcorn in your microwave.

Try to sit with new people at meals!! You never know who you will become friends with!!

Take use of the free food and activities offered on campus!! They are awesome and you’ll never get these cheap opportunities again.

Smile at people you walk by.

I promise you are going to fall in love with this campus just as much as I did. It is amazing and you’re going to have a great time here.

Love,

Me

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
