Congratulations, you've made it this far! You've graduated high school, gotten into college, and hey, maybe you've even earned a few scholarships! You might have lived in Aiken your whole life, or maybe you're from out-of-state like me. But regardless, there is one thing that we have in common, the room where we spent our very first year of college.

So, with this year coming to a close, I would like to leave a few words behind.

First of all, there's a bleached out spot on the carpet. It's nothing to worry about, me and my roommate just had a little accident with the cleaning supplies. Second, the floor of the shower is going to look gross no matter how many times you clean it.

This might be your first time sharing a room with someone. It was for me, anyways. If so, things might seem a little awkward at first, given that you won't have the same amount of privacy that you did before. Trust me, it gets better as time goes on. The awkwardness goes away quickly when you realize you're literally living with the other person.

The person that you room with might have different habits, such as preferring to study at different times, which can lead to distractions when said roommate is making noise while you are trying to read. Do not take it out on them, it is not their job to be completely silent for you. If you need them, ear plugs are very cheap.

Thankfully, I prefer to shower in the evening. But if both of you prefer morning showers, you might want to consider figuring out each other's class schedules so that you can stagger time in the morning.

Having a microwave in the room is pretty cool, but the smells tend to linger! If you are going to be heating anything that has a strong sent, make sure to open the door and window. I learned this the hard way with pizza rolls.

And finally, be a little bit social! You're going to be living with seven other people, and hiding yourself away from them for months is just going to make things miserable for you. And I say this as an introvert with anxiety. It's better to get to know the people around you so that you know they've got your back.

Your first year might seem like an ocean to get through, but believe me, it's over before you know it. Good luck girls, You've got this!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
