To the girl who likes me but doesn't understand I don't like relationships.

It isn't you, love. It is me.

I have been hurt before, once or twice, and I learned to shut my emotions out as if it were an exam I wasn't prepared for.

I learned from my parents that when things get too complex, just walk out. I learned from my grandfather that the person you're meant to be with isn't your wife, but your best friend's wife. I learned from my grandmother to hide how you feel because nobody is going to listen, so save your breath. I learned from my sister, who married twice and love is undefined for her, so the three little things she created for nine months is her one true love in life. I learned from my brother that you have to go to jail to realize that the only person who loves you now hates you because of your actions.

As Edgar Allen Poe once said, " Years of love have been forgotten, in the hatred of a minute." I can never hate a person, but I will always hate time. Time makes days go fast or slow, but it never stops. I bless the days it goes fast because I am one day closer to death and sleep. On days it goes slow, I feel nothing but emptiness. The girl who likes me isn't the reason, but life itself and a person who actually touched my heart once is.

Finding someone who sparks your soul is quite rare. I hope that the girl who likes me isn't sparked because I can't return the favor. My heart only pumps and keeps me alive. It does not love. It does not care. It does not yearn for lolly-gagging and endless love.

I am different because I don't love nor do I have an ounce of tender care in my heart.

To the girl who likes me, I hope you understand dear. I can't change who I am. I will try my best to make you happy. I will be there for you and show you affection, but I am not the one. I don't like dinner dates with parents. Flowers are too corny. Road trips make memories neither one of us want to recall when we're sleeping in someone else's bed. I never want a picket fence lifestyle.

My dear, you deserve love and that I can't give. What I can give is happiness, laughter and listen to all the issues that are troubling you.

One day you will find someone who can give you love, but for the time being keep holding onto my hand because this relationship of ours will be a rollercoaster ride.
