To the Girl Who Feels She Can't Be Loved:
I know you’re struggling to find a reason why someone might love you. I know it’s hard to not beat yourself up. I know all you want to do is quit and say, "I am done with everyone." I’m here to tell you that you can’t! No matter what you think. There are people out there who admire you and love you.
That girl in the back of class who doesn’t say anything, but is constantly staring at you, she isn’t making fun of you or judging you. She’s admiring something about you. You’re so used to people turning on you and hurting you that you don’t know what it’s like to not live in fear of judgment. You’re beautiful even if you don’t see it.
The boy who you are constantly toiling with hoping that he notices you, he does. He does notice you, but you don’t need his approval or attention to know that you are a beautiful, wonderful, intelligent person. Seek that approval in yourself.
That’s the hardest thing you will ever do is learn to love yourself. It’s a struggle. It’s going to challenge you. There will be days where you constantly return to your negative ways of thinking, but if you put all of your effort in learning to love yourself, you don’t have time to worry about what others think. Loving yourself will build your self-confidence. When your self-confidence grows so does the way you hold yourself. Your aura about yourself will be more prevalent. The more you love yourself, the more others find love in you as well. Someone could find a friend within you because you aren't afraid to say you love video games, books or painting. Someone might find a role model in you because you stand up for yourself. Someone might find a light in their dark days because you show confidence and love in yourself that someone else might find inspiring. The more you love yourself the more you allow others to do the same.
Guys will come and go. Strangers will judge you. Your friends may move away. However, you only have one you for the rest of your life. That has to be enough. So remember to love yourself. Tell yourself every day something you admire about yourself. Whether it be that your hair looks great that day, or you're proud for standing up for your beliefs, you have to find something that you love about yourself. That is the best thing to do. Remember, everyone is battling their own battle and you need to make sure you win yours. Believe in yourself, and don't seek the approval of others to know your own self-worth. Love yourself day in and day out and you'll forever have the love you are searching for.
