Life is way too short to be unhappy, plain and simple. As a society, we spend too much time on letting others define our happiness and not enough on what actually makes us happy. We need to stop letting society define our lives; we need to start living for ourselves.
Do NOT let people define your happiness.
Cutting toxic people out of your life does not make you a bad person. I promise you that afterwards, your overall mental health will be better. Toxic people only add negatives to every aspect of your life, so get rid of them.
Stop spending so much time on social media.
It just leads to problems. Unfortunately, social media defines our society. Your “popularity” is defined by how many likes your Instagram picture gets, which is sad. Social media is filled with crap that puts people down and makes you feel bad about yourself. Trust me, I am on my social medias a lot, but you need to step away every once in a while and realize what is real.
It doesn’t matter what size you are.
Screw what people think; size does not matter. As long as you are happy and comfortable in your own skin, do not let other people define you. You are just as beautiful as a size 12 as you are a size 2. If you are not comfortable or you do not feel good in your own skin, change it. But don’t you dare let other people make you feel like you have to change because of your body size.
It’s called balance.
Some days you’re going to eat egg whites, salads, and only drink water. Those are also the days that you’re probably going to hit the gym. But guess what: some days, you’re going to binge watch Netflix while you eat a large pizza and drink a box of wine by yourself. This is okay; it is called balance for a reason.
Don’t stop dreaming.
I would love to get married in the Magic Kingdom in front of Cinderella’s castle. And you know what? I am holding onto that dream until it either happens, or I choose a new dream. But the point is, no matter how big your dreams are, do not let go of them. You will only be stuck thinking about what could have happened.
Stop planning.
When plans do not go how you want them to, it makes you sad. Stop planning out every detail of your life. Enjoy the ride that you’re on, and let the wind blow you to where you are supposed to go. You may not see it at the time, but everything happens for a reason.
Whether we see it now or later down the road, every path you take is the road to where you are supposed to be. You might find a few bumps and need to take a few U-turns, but in the end, life will lead you to exactly where you’re supposed to be. So grab your favorite coffee, pick up your loved ones, and enjoy the ride. You will most definitely regret it if you don’t.
