Summer has finally arrived, with a break from school following in its footsteps. This means packing up your dorm rooms, turning in books, and saying hello to relaxation. Usually a break from school is a good thing - well, that is until you're fighting back tears at the thought of saying goodbye to the people you won't get to see over the summer. Yes, being around the people you grew up with is exciting and very enjoyable, however the thought of leaving your people for roughly four months breaks your heart. Sometimes, these goodbyes aren't really goodbyes, they're just an alternative way to say, 'see you next semester!' However, some really are final goodbyes as people you love transfer to different schools, or graduate, and you dread facing the upcoming semester without them. This, unfortunately, is life, and it sucks.
The time I've spent with the people at college have been some of the best moments I've had. From the road trips spontaneously taken to the late night Steak 'n Shake trips, to the late night deep talks listening to records on repeat, they've been some of the better moments I'll remember. No matter how hard of an exam or how rough of a day I had, I knew I could count of them to lift my spirits. The group chats we made were filled with roasting, memes, and drunken TBHs. The snapchats we sent one another weren't the best, and many became stickers to be used over and over again. The time we've shared has been precious and memorable and nothing I would ever want to trade.
The ones who have to leave have forever left footprints on my heart. Though our time together was not long, it left me with some of the best memories. Even though these people won't be physically around any longer, they will always be around in group chats and memories (Skype will be our saving grace). The time we shared was special, and I hope you never forget that, because it will be impossible to forget you. As we say our final goodbyes, remember all the good times we shared, and always remember...
"Though miles may lie between us, we're never far apart, for friendship doesn't count the miles, it's measured by the heart."
