Well, it’s that time of year again. For freshman, now sophomores I guess you could say, it’s the first time. The spring semester is over. The finals that kept all of us sleep deprived and hyped up on caffeine are over. A lot of memories were made this year. At the beginning of this year some of us made friends we thought would be around all of college. Now at the end, you may be leaving with the same friends you had, or completely new ones. But, whichever, you’ve made friends to come back to next semester to make a whole new set of memories.
These friends that you have made are ones that hopefully are ones you'll have for the rest of college. Sure you will have ups and downs, but things happen. The end of the semester means that the people you’ve surrounded yourself with are all going home. If you’re a commuter, you realize a lot of your friends are going home to their high school friends while you’re essentially stuck in the same place. This can get a little lonely, considering you’ve gotten used to driving to campus every day to go to class and spend time with them. However, all of your friends from high school are coming back too, so you get to spend three months catching up and going on adventures with the people you never thought you could live without at the beginning of college.
For my out-of-state or further away than 30 miles (aka not commuter status) people, you’re going home to your family, and also your friends from high school. You’re catching up with all the friends who went to a different college, and you get to come home to a real bed and home-cooked meals. Let’s be honest, we’re all happy for home-cooked meals. Cafeteria food, Chick-fil-a, and pizza gets old when you have it everyday for eight months straight. It’s a great time getting all of this, but you’ll miss college, and can’t wait to go back, even though it’s amazing to have a break.
Let’s just say that college students are extremely happy for classes to be over; you’re finally rid of that awful professor you swear was out to get you. But, we’re all saying goodbye to friends that we’ve made memories to last a lifetime, but we know we’ll see them again in three months. But, hey, you can always make that road trip, and explore a new place to see them. Who knows what could happen this summer? There are endless possibilities. However, we’ll all miss our college friends, and we can’t wait to go back for another round.
