The Evolution of Finals, as Told By Frozen

Even Elsa and Anna feel the stress of finals in Arendale.

The Evolution of Finals, as Told By Frozen

The time is upon us! That bitter, cold-hearted, period of time that stands between you and heading home from the summer: Finals.

Suddenly, professors expect everyone to remember what was covered day two of Sylly Week, when coming to class wasn't even a requirement! Now, we're tasked with memorizing formulas, reciting poems in different languages, writing ten page long papers in 3 hours--- cramming as much information into our brains as humanly possible just to pass one exam that encompasses everything we were taught over the 16 weeks of the semester. In 2 hours.

COOL.

As the stress sets in, the cycle of emotions begins as we start the long, hard, journey to stay alive, and make it home for summer.

The realization that the time has come.

It hits you like a ton of bricks: no more classes, nothing else to learn... Just the looming, foreboding gray cloud labeled 'finals' hanging over you for the next week or so.

The review sessions

The classes and extra sessions when the professors go over everything that is going to be covered on the final. When they said 'everything', no one actually thought they meant it...

The panic sets in

Every assignment due date and final date and time is written into your planner. Now, you have to figure out, literally to the minute, when to study, eat, study, go to the bathroom, study, pack for home, study, sleep... Scratch that last one, no one REALLY needs sleep... right?

The studying begins

What are friends? What is a social life? What is food? But, hey, but to find the area of a triangle, multiply the base by the height and divide it by 2!

Finally taking a break

You finally hit the point when you even think about looking at another textbook, you want to cry. Forever. So, you finally emerge from your cave. Wait, is that the sun?

You continue studying, of course after that little (Okay, 5 hour) break.

The "Screw it" stage

Who cares anymore! You're not going to learn any more information five minutes from now, than you are at this very moment, so why bother! DONE.

You actually go back to studying because you are now panicking because your final is TOMORROW.

The day of the final

Because we have actively chosen to study instead of sleep, waking up for these is literally impossible. We may or may not wander in to the room running 100% on coffee and in our pajamas...

The walk into the room.

This is it. No turning back.

The feeling after finishing each test

Either Or

There is no in-between. You either think you bombed it, or nailed it.

Finally, the day comes. Your last Final!

That's it! You made it! Now, its time to finish packing.

The wait for your parents to pick you up

WE ARE GOING HOME!!!! PEACE OUT COLLEGE. SEE YOU NEVER. (Jk, see you in the fall xoxox).

Your parents seeing you after finals

Ok, so we haven't slept in a week, we have literally eaten nothing healthy, and we really Really REALLY want to go home. What do you expect.

Leaving for home

After double checking your room, handing your key back, and heading to the car, you can finally say the semester is over. Congrats, you survived!

Here's to making it through the next couple of days, alive! You can do it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
