To The Best Big Brother In The World

Because I never tell you this enough...

To The Best Big Brother In The World

I love you...yeah, yeah I know you are probably thinking to yourself "she's joking right?" But, I'm serious. I'm writing this to you because I want to tell you how much you really mean to me.

Over the years, I have realized quite a few things, so this one is for you...

Thank you for being my protector and the one I can always look up to. I know you probably still consider me to be the annoying little sister you grew up with, but I know despite the stupid fights and arguments we have had together, I never once lost sight of how much I care for and love you, and believe it or not I know you love me too.

Regardless of how mad we were at each other, you never failed to always be by my side and protect me when I needed it most. I could come to you for anything and ask for brotherly advice in our sibling language, and even though you may have laughed at me in the moment, you always gave me just a small piece of advice each time that would make me stronger. It may not have seemed worthwhile at that time and place, but looking back I finally realize how much those pieces of advice actually changed who I am today.

You taught me how to stand up for myself and even manipulated me in your own brotherly ways to take risks and find new adventures along the way. I may not have followed all of the paths you've taken in life, but I know one thing...after watching you stumble and come back stronger than ever, I wanted to do just the same. I have learned so much from you and take pride in having you as my brother.

You have taught me the ways and have shown me how to live life to the fullest. Even though you live so far away, and I never get to see you as much I want to, I know that you will always be there for me, and even if we text each other once a month (or longer sometimes), I look forward to every little conversation we have...no matter how stupid.

Long story short, I know I'm the better sibling. But, I guess you're not so bad after all. I miss you more than you know and wish I could see you more often. But, I want you to know that I will always be watching from the sidelines cheering you on as you successfully accomplish new things, and I promise to always laugh at you when you fall along the way. Don't worry though, I will help you up after pushing you down one more time because I really do care.

Seriously though, thank you for being the best brother a little sister could ever ask for. I cannot wait to see all of the many things you accomplish in life, and most of all, I know that I always want to be a part of those accomplishments. I am excited to see what life has in store for you, and I am always proud of you.

I know I don't ever tell you this enough, but I love you. Thank you for shaping me into the person I am today because you know... I learned from the best. Thank you for giving me so many reasons to be thankful for the family I have, and thank you for always being there for me even when you don't always show it.

I cannot imagine growing up with anyone else by my side throughout the years, and I want you to know that I will always be thankful for you.

Love always,

Your little sister

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
