To my nine wonderful, funny and amazing roommates,
Time is sadly starting to dwindle as the month of May comes closer and closer. We have a countdown in our dorm until May 3 (26 days) when quizzes, homework, midterms and finals will be over. I will be shedding a tear when that day finally comes.
When I got my housing assignment in the summer for Lincoln Tower, I was so upset. When I told people where I would be living, they gave me a sympathetic look and mentioned how far away it was from everything else on campus. Also, how was I going to live with nine other girls for a whole year? I didn't even know any of you and while I tried to creep on your social media accounts, it did not give me enough information on any of your personalities or what this year was going to entail. How was I supposed to know if you guys were going to eat my food ...
... or be weirded out by my "Friends" obsession?
Well, I am extremely happy to say that you guys, thankfully, exceeded all of my expectations. All nine of you have become my family away from home, to the point where I get sad whenever I leave for just a weekend. You all made my first year of college so much more silly, fun, exciting and random; but most importantly, you helped me become the best version of myself that I could be.
While we tried to push each other to go to the gym, we also had an unspoken rule that if someone asked if they should eat all of their ice cream pint, the automatic answer would be yes.
None of you ever judged me for my "weird Olivia thoughts," or my "amazing" dance moves (aka not-so-very-good dance moves). And most importantly, whenever one of us needed a hug or a cuddle session, we were always, always there for each other.
You were always there to pick me up after bombing a test, or to celebrate the little things in life. You put up with my cartoon movies, and laughed at my stupid jokes. We got comfortable enough to talk about anything, from cute boys, weird dreams, and even poop.
Thank you for all the dance parties, roommate dates, random adventures, and movie nights. I am 100 percent myself around all of you and I could not thank you enough for accepting my crazy hair, no makeup, big t-shirt, sweatpants, and glasses self. I would not want to live with anyone else.
Here's to almost finishing freshman year and to all the silly memories we've made!!
Love,
Blonde Olivia
