Dear Brother & Sister,
Thank you for driving me places.
I know you both hated when you had to drive me somewhere before I turned 16 but I enjoyed every single car ride. I thought I was so cool sitting in the front seat of my older brother or sister’s car with the windows down and the music turned up. I’m sure you both rolled your eyes and mumbled “thank god!” as soon as I got out of the car but just know that I appreciated the rides.
Thank you for making sure I stay grateful.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard “Why does she get away with it?” or “You’re ridiculously spoiled.” I WOULD HAVE SO MANY DOLLARS. Even today, you both remind me to be thankful for how good I have it, compared to when you were younger (even though we know we have two of the most generous and loving parents who would do anything for us).
Thank you for going showing me that good relationships are possible.
There’s no doubt that you both have dated people who, let’s be honest, probably weren’t the best people to be in a relationship with. While I was (and still am) truly sorry to see two people I love suffer through heartbreaks, your pain taught me to wait for the right person. Now that I see you guys both in happy, long-term relationships I understand the meaning of “never settle for anything less than you deserve.”
Thank you for making fun of Mom and Dad with me.
Our parents are hilarious, there’s no arguing with that. Their silly quirks and odd habits definitely give us something to laugh about! Even though teasing our Mom and Dad probably isn’t the nicest, I know they’re willing to sit through the harmless taunting as long as we’re all laughing together.
Thank you for loving me.
I’m a brat with an attitude and smart ass mouth. I know this because you both have reminded me of this many times… Many, many times. But that hasn’t stopped either of you from loving me no matter what I have said or done and for that, I will be forever thankful.
This list could go on forever but to put everything in words would be impossible. There is no way I can ever truly explain the love and gratitude I hold for you two.
Love,
Your Baby Sister
