To My High School Teachers

If you can read this, thank a teacher!

To My High School Teachers

I don't know about you guys, but without my high school teachers I wouldn't be where I am today. I have nearly 10 teachers that I am entirely grateful for. I can only thank them for so much, for all their support and advice they have given me in the past four to six years.

Dear Educators,

Thank you for encouraging me to become the best version of myself. Thank you for the life lessons and the words of wisdom that I carry with me to this day. Thank you for not giving up on me when I gave up on myself. Thank you for getting through all the emotional, internal and external moments I faced. Thank you for always guiding me on the right path when I would stray away. Thank you for cheering me up when the tears would stream down.

I am forever grateful for all the comfort you all have given me. You made school a second home for me. You were all the parental guidance I needed to get myself to where I wanted to be. I appreciate the extra help for my ACT's, and for allowing me to vent during the good and bad times. You have seen me grow throughout my four years and not once have I ever failed because of you. There was just enough balance of trust and friendship that I will cherish for a lifetime.

If I ever win the Noble Peace Prize or a Grammy Award, I promise to keep you all at the top of my list. Regardless of how busy your lives are, you always make time to make sure that I was OK for the day. You lend me your shoulder to cry on and assist me with the help I need to do well academically.

I wish students could see what you have done for me. I wish they could understand how important your job is even if there are days where you may suck at it. I wish those students could see how you, educators, are here for a reason. Enough with the basics of math, reading, writing and social studies, you taught us how to be human. You taught us how to survive this godforsaken world. You taught us to never let others put us down. You are made to be here for us for a reason and I thank God for that reason.

There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful you all are. I have a newfound love to become a teacher one day or even a guidance counselor at that. I am actually a communications teacher now, but that does not mean that I don't have intentions in helping others one day. It has been a rocky road for me these past couple years and I have regained myself again by remembering the kind words you shared with me.

I may be 192 miles away, but "once a warrior, always a warrior." Thank for everything and anything.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
