To the sunshine on my cloudy days,
Sometimes I forget to remind you exactly how important you are and have been in my life. I’ll admit while our friendship can be sassy and unpredictable, no matter where I find myself I know I’ll find you too. I never want you to think I take any part of our wild, wonderful ride for granted. I am going to take this time to put into words exactly how unimaginable my life is without you.
You are every person I could ever need wrapped into one. You are my hardest critic and my biggest cheerleader, but you know exactly when I need which. When I need the toughest of love, you pick me up by my breaking heart and forcing me to face the sh*t storm I’m weathering. You tell me when I need to stop trying to make fetch happen, for which I am grateful. At the same time, when I am lost in the darkest part of my own crumbling world, you personally see to it that I am put back together. You’re like my older brother, in that you will protect me from any harm you see in my path and wipe my tears when I stray from behind your shield. But then you’re like my favorite sister because you help pick out my clothes and talk about how hot my newest crush is. Never stop being you because you are perfect.
You also teach me what true strength is with only your existence. In society today, I can not imagine how hard you struggle with being yourself. You not only face these issues, but I see confidence in your swagger that so many others strive for. I know sometimes you do not know it is there, so I will make it my mission to remind you every day. You inspire me more and more each waking minute and I know you are going to be a trailblazer in changing the world. You embrace living like a wave embraces the shore and it is amazing to see that no matter how many times you crash, you’re going to get up and embrace it again. As we go through life, you will rise to the farthest of heights simply because you seek and deserve nothing lower.
More than anything I never want you to be afraid, as you have no reason to be. I know it sounds silly as you read this, but I have seen a glimpse of fear in your eyes, and you have no reason to be frightened. You are not disappointing anyone. You are not wrong. You are perfect and you are beautiful. Never ever be afraid to shine as bright as I know you can because as many times as you’ve been there for me I will be there for you, to defend you, and to protect you.
You’re the Stanford Blatch to my Carrie Bradshaw, and more than that, you’re the current holder of every piece of my heart. I give it to you because I will always want your approval on who I will give it to next. I’ve found that is the best way to keep it from breaking.
