To My Future Roommate

Dear Future Roomie and Best Friend,

We have been best friends for what feels like forever. Back in the seventh grade, I never would have thought that 6 years down the road, we would be living together in our very first apartment.

We may have drifted apart for a year or two, but I am so glad that this opportunity brought us back together. We are both more than halfway through our sophomore year and college and ready to live on our own. In 6 short months we will be on our own and becoming "true adults," and I am so excited and eager for that experience.

I hope you are ready for the craziness that is in our future.

I hope you are ready to laugh until you cry. Every time I see you we are constantly laughing about something. Whether we are laughing at each other in the gym because we can't be serious, or because we are making fun of each other's singing while jamming out to our favorite songs in the car. Get ready for a lot more laughter-induced tears because we are going to experience so many things every day that will make us laugh until our stomach's hurt.

I hope you are ready to be my personal therapist. We only see each other about twice a week right now, and when we do, we vent to each other for hours on end. We vent to each other so much, that it's hard to find a place to stop when we have to leave each other. But in 6 short months, we will vent to each other so much that we might as well be each other's therapist. I will be there for you when you cry, when you're happy, when you're mad, and when you're lost and confused... I will always be there.

Times will get tough and there may be days where we absolutely can't stand each other, but I hope you always remember that you are my best friend at the end of the day. We are going to see what it's like to be the typical "broke" and "starving" college kids, we are going to do a lot of people watching, and we are going to make so many new memories these next two years and meet so many new people.

Here's to the next two years and to crazy new adventures.

I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.
