To My “Roommates”,
It’s crazy to think we came into each others lives in August. We started off as scared freshmen. We thought we were the coolest people around, and probably still do. At some point in the first few crazy weeks of school, we became friends. We exchanged numbers. We followed each other on EVERY form of social media. We even had a group chat. We were great friends. Then something happened. We started hanging out every second we had. We texted in the group chat about EVERYTHING. We facetimed when we were apart for more than an hour. We stayed up together during all hours of the night. At some point, we became best friends. We were experiencing this foreign thing known as college together. When we had mental breakdowns, which happened a lot, we went to each other. When we made crazy mistakes, we would laugh about them together. We were experiencing college in the best way possible; together.
Being best friends wasn’t enough, though. As cheesy as it sounds, we became a family. We planned each others weddings. We followed each others moms on social media. We struggled to do anything without each other.
Now we’re here. It’s been a crazy, rewarding two semesters with you all. Thank you for keeping me sane, but also driving me insane. Thank you for getting food with me at ridiculous hours of the night. Thank you for movie nights and gossip sessions. Thank you for pushing me to new limits. Finally, thank you for helping me survive this crazy thing called college. As this year comes to an end, I wouldn’t have wanted to share it with anyone else.
Two Weeks:
In just two weeks we will be moving out. We’ll be hours away from each other, instead of seconds. We won’t be able to text in the group chat asking who is hungry, or asking for something to wear. In just two weeks we won’t live together, but this isn’t a goodbye. Not living together won’t change the fact that we have a mental speech we plan to give at each others weddings. Not living together doesn’t mean we won’t text and facetime each other all the time. Not living together won’t change the fact that each and every one of you has changed my life for the better. It won’t change anything, but our location. Family is forever, so thank you to my crazy roommates. I couldn’t have survived this unforgettable year without you all.
