Our friendship isn’t ordinary, but it’s one of the best friendships I have ever had. We haven’t even known each other very long, but it feels like we’ve been friends our whole lives. And even though we go to different schools, we catch up like we haven’t missed a thing once we’re together again (which usually we haven’t, because of FaceTime.)

You are different than many people I know. You listen, you care, and you understand. You’ve been through life’s ups and downs, but you look forward while remembering your past, because that’s as much a part of you as the present is. And I think that’s important because I do the same and unlike a lot of people, you understand that, and you accept that about me.

We have a lot more things in common, but I don’t value our friendship because we agree with each other. You have opened up my mind to a whole new world of understanding and acceptance of myself and of others, and for that I value you so much as a person, too.

While it has been harder to have our usual fun because we don’t live 5 minutes away from each other during the school year, we use that as an incentive to not take our time together for granted. We don’t have to go to great lengths to have fun, because we find it wherever we go.

Modern technology has definitely helped us through our time spent apart, but even if we didn’t have it, I believe we’d make it work regardless. Writing letters, sending off carrier pigeons… it’d all be done if need be. We’d work so hard because our friendship is special, and it’s not something that I would let fade away, that I know for sure.

Finally, I just want to thank you. Thank you for being one of the best friends I’ve ever had, for giving me countless amazing memories, for giving me the best advice, and most of all for being such a genuine friend. You’ve shown me what true friendship is, and have been such an influence on me, more than you know.

Life can get busy and people inevitably change, but you’re one of the people I truly believe will stick around. When I look into the future, I see you at my wedding and vice versa, and I can only imagine all of the crazy adventures we’ll have.

So, my friend, thank you for your wisdom, your laughs, your inside jokes, and your love. I am not only happy to have you as a friend, but indescribably proud of who you are as a person. Here’s to our years of friendship now, and to the many more to come.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
