To My First Friend In College
Taylor Caponigro

I do not think people realize what kind of impact your first friend in college has on your life. She sets the bar for every other person you meet and no matter how often you talk or see each other, there is always that satisfaction of knowing that she will always have your back. My first friend in college sets the bar way too high, so high that I just had to make her my best friend .

Here's to you.

I don't remember life before I met you because you make everyday a holiday. I could not have been luckier to run into you on move in day because since then I have always had someone I can count on. We had all our first experiences together. From frat parties to college classes, there is no other person I would have wanted to be around before early 8 ams or coming back to the dorms late at night. You are in all of my fondest memories and no one comes close to taking your place. I am grateful I found someone that made me miss home a little less and love where I am even more.

I was lucky because my first friend in college became my best friend. I love looking back on all our first and finest memories, but I am more excited for what the future holds. You made the whole college transition easy and you continue to reflect guidance and light onto my life each and everyday. We may have different goals and aspirations, but I know with a friend like you I always feel like I am going places. You are my partner in crime and although you have only been part of a small portion of my life, I feel like you know me better than anyone.

So here's to my best friend, the one who lifts my spirits and acts as my psychiatrist when I fall short of the person I want to be. Your first friend in college changes you life. She makes you feel good about who you are and she reassures you that sometimes you find your bridesmaid in a matter of a few minutes. Whoever said you never have friends later on like the ones you had when you were twelve was so wrong.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
