I want to start this out by saying that the first person you date, or even the first person you say "I love you" to, is not necessarily your first love. I have been dating my girlfriend for almost a year and nine months now, and I can tell you for a fact that I have never felt like this about anyone before. She is always there for me when I need her and I know I can count on her for any problem I have or any secret I want to share. So, love, this letter is for you.
To My First Love,
I want to start out by saying that I know we have had our problems during our relationship. There have been tears shed, words yelled at one another and even threats of breaking up. However, despite these bad times, we have still stuck together and we are now stronger and closer to one another because of it. When we first met, I had no idea the bond that you and I would end up sharing. The thing I remember most about that fateful day is going to the park with you and looking up at the stars, thinking that we were the last two people in the universe. I have never experienced that feeling with anyone else before and I don't want to experience it with anyone else again. I truly feel in my heart that we will be together for a long time to come. I plan on having a future with you and I want to spend every day with you. When I'm at home away from you, I long to be with you. When I'm in class, I have daydreams about you to make the time go by quicker. Even when I am with you, sometimes I just look at you and think about how lucky I am that a girl like you fell for a guy like me. When you greet me each morning, I can't help but fall in love with your smile all over again. Looking into your eyes, all my fears and insecurities just seem to melt away. I know we could spend the day together doing nothing and still have a good time, or we could go on one of our crazy adventures and have an incredible time! You are the beacon that lights up my dark world, the one that always takes my breath away and my other half. I know that we have not been each other's first relationship, but I do feel like we are each other's first love and to me, that is far more important. I will cherish every moment I have with you from now on and treat every day with you like it is the first day we met. You are the most special person in my life and I feel thankful every day that I had the opportunity to be with a girl that is as amazing as you.
