Sometimes throughout my life, I have to take some time to sit down and remember the people who have always done everything for me. Those people who have always been there for me no matter what are my family, well for me at least.
I have my mom, my dad, and my two younger siblings, a brother and a sister. With being at college now as a freshman, I really do miss them a lot. You truly realize how much you miss something or in this case someone when they are gone. That phrase has been repeated many times throughout my life at home and at school. It never has been more true than now.
During my entire childhood and life pretty much, my parents supported me in whatever I wanted to do with my life. From all of the times I couldn't speak and I just wanted to play with Bear and the Big Blue House toys, to the days where I would come home crying because people were huge jerks in school, to the days where I would come home telling my parents of how my work was finally paying of senior year. They were always there for me. My siblings being 11 and 9 currently always didn't understand perfectly what was going on, but they always tried to cheer me up with their little innocent smiles and hugs. I always love those still to this day!
My family was always there for me to cheer me up and help me figure life out as things came to face me. Of course I had to officially overcome them, but I always had my mom and dad there for guidance as well as my siblings there to give me support along the way. They all were a true blessing and even though they aren't with me in person while I am at college, I know that they are only a phone call away and will support me in anyway that they can!
Of course, I always miss their hugs and their kisses, but if it weren't for the current technology of today, I wouldn't have wanted to go away to college at all because I would never get to hear from my family. With Skype and Facetime, I get to have my family right in the room with me, even though it is only on a screen.
Families always need to be thanked for dealing with all of our crap. From the times I came home crying, to the other times when I came home in a weird mood and to any other time I wasn't my little happy self, you all always put up with anything that happened to me.
Well, you might be thinking at this point 'Well Savannah, not all people have united families like yours.' In that fact, yes, you are right, but families come in all shapes and sizes. As voice actor Vic Mignogna said once at a convention panel he was on, "Family doesn't have to be your blood."
Families can be your friends from high school or college, your neighbors, or even just that random man you talk to at the store all the time. Any of those things can truly happen in this world.
The important thing about family is that they are always there for you. They help you, guide you, and try to make sure that you are safe and happy in life. Families come in all shapes and sizes, but I will always thank mine for always being there for me no matter what happened in my life. I will always love them very dearly no matter what.
To anyone who is family out there to anybody, thank you for being great and supportive to someone in this world.
Lastly to my mom, dad, brother, and sister: thank you for everything you all have ever done for me!
