This is a peace offering of sorts.

To My Boyfriend's Best Friend
Taylor Beach

In past relationships I've always had conflicts with my boyfriend's best friend. Confrontations with the best friend impacted the relationship I was in at the time negatively. He would hate me for taking time away from him and his best friend saying, "I knew him longer than you have." It was like his best friend called dibs on my love for him and sharing him was out of the question. At the moment, I find myself loved deeply by the most amazing man I've ever met. This amazing guy has a best friend. Why wouldn't he? This letter is for the best friend.

To my boyfriend's best friend,

I love him as much as you do...just in a different way. I always said that the friends we have are the little pieces that make up who we are so a part of me loves you as well. I love how good you are to him; how you make him laugh; how you never turn him down when he needs your help.

I wouldn't dream of having it any other way. I want to hang out all three of us. I want all of us to travel our beautiful country together and make the sweetest of memories. None of that "third-wheel" stuff. I know it's complicated but we're really not like that. He is my best friend 90% of the time so I treat him as such in front of his friends. I never want you to feel like you can't hang out with us because I'm around.

Joking around with you is one of the best feelings in the world. Having your approval not only makes me happy, but I see the light in your best friend's eyes at our interaction and I know he is thrilled. I want you to know that you guys crack me up. Your inside jokes made no sense at first but when you let me in I was a part of those jokes. I was included. Thank you for the laughs.

I'm grateful he has you. When he gets a text, I always know it's you. How do I know, you ask? Because he gets all giggly by something silly you said. He can talk freely with you. I'm not saying he can't talk freely with me but his tone is respectful with me. With you, his voice is whatever it wants to be.

Most importantly, I promise to love your best friend with all my heart, forever. I know when he needs his best friend time and I encourage it. You need to know that I need your time too. I plan on being here and I know you do, too, so seeing your face is a must.

I'm blessed with making a friend in you, the man who wants the best for his best friend. I won't stop trying to be the best girlfriend to your best friend.

Sincerely,

The Girlfriend

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
