A Letter To My Big Brother
Sean Medek

Dear Christian,

I'm really not sure how to start this off. First off I guess I'll say hey how is it going tough guy? I just want to tell you that I thank you for everything that you have ever done for me.You might not realize it but you played such a big role in my life so far. Growing up and watching you be able to be the person you wanted to be and do what you wanted to do inspired me so much in life.

First I guess I'll thank you for helping me shape my music choices. I started off by liking just one genre then hearing your crazy selection of music made me listen to many different kinds of music. Without you I would have never known how Marylin Manson or Bon Iver were.

Next I want to thank you for getting me into horror movies and books. Without you I would have never have come up with the concept for the published book series I have. I still remember the day you came home with the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks when I was about ten years old. From that day on both yours and my love for zombies grew.

I want to thank you for helping me be the person I was in high school. I remember every teacher would call you Christian "Awesome" Medek and I knew I had to live up to your name in school. One of the worst but yet best days in high school was the day my 11th grade English teacher said "Christian never acted like this." while yelling at me for acting up in class. It was the worst day because she compared me to in a bad way, a way I never wanted to be compared to you. But it was also the best day because that is when I realized I had become my own person. Thank you for that.

Thank you for helping me in college. You would go out of your way on Wednesday nights to cook me dinner and help me study or help me with papers. You helped me because you wanted to see me succeed. Thank you so much for that.

Christian I mostly want to thank you for seeing that there is something successful in me. I remember in the middle of my freshman year in college we got into an arguement and you told me that "there is so much potential in me to do anything I want" but you said the only thing keeping me back is the fact that I do not see it myself. After this summer I found that potential and I'm putting it in full force. I want to thank you for pushing me, and helping me, and making me the person I am.

Thank you Christian, you are the best big brother anyone could have asked for.

I love you,

— Sean

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
