Dear Best Friend (now that we're apart),
I miss you. Like a lot. It's so weird not seeing you all the time like I used to. I miss hanging out and our long heart-to-hearts. Whether we had actual plans or just spontaneous adventures, it was always a good time. As I look back on all of the memories we had, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for always putting up with me and for keeping me sane during those stressful times in my life. Thank you for making me laugh when I was sad and holding me accountable for things. You've seen me cry. You've made me laugh until I couldn't breathe. No matter what, you've stuck by my side through it all. My life would be so different if I didn't have you in it.
I talk about you all the time. All of my new friends get to hear about all of our crazy memories! They may get tired of it sometimes, but some of my favorite moments were the moments we spent together, and for that I'm so grateful. Sometimes I think back to some of the things we used to do and I just laugh. I love going through old pictures and thinking back to our high school pep rallies, our spring break beach trips, etc. It feels like just yesterday, and now here we are over 100 miles apart.
I hate that our time together is now limited to just breaks and holidays. Only getting to see you once every one to two months (if we're lucky) just doesn't seem fair. But it makes those times that I do get to see you even more special. Even if it's a quick lunch date, I enjoy every minute I get to catch up with you! And when we do see each other, it's like we pick up right where we left off.
Even though we are both in different places making new memories without each other, I can't wait to tell you about my experiences and hear about yours. We may be over 100 miles apart, but you're still my best friend. And that will never change! Thank you for always encouraging me to do my best, and for reminding me that some things are not worth worrying about.
You're irreplaceable. I might be making new friends and we might not always be together, but no one could ever take your place. The fact that we're still so close being so far apart just reminds me how our friendship is forever. In a world so full of change, I'm so thankful to have something that remains the same. You know me better than I know myself, and I know that no matter where life takes us, I'll always have you. Thank you for being my best friend and for being you! You mean so much to me. I miss you and I'll see you soon.
