To Give Up On Oneselves

Why is it we believe we won't make it?

Why is that so? Why do we give up? Why do we doubt ourselves? Why is it we believe we won't make it?

We either put ourselves on an unknown path not knowing where we are going but we have a designated ending, or we put ourselves in a path we know where we will go.

Regardless of either path, we have gone through many setbacks, if not we are going to go through them.

We fight tooth and nail to get to where we are going and we don't go through one battle, nothing ever comes so easily. It is because of this there are moments in our life that makes us question, that makes us lost in our thoughts. The question and thoughts that we seem to have is;

What do I really want?

Why am I doing this?

Can I really do this?

Is this all worth it?

It's too hard.

Is this really it.

My grades aren't good enough.

In our defense we work as hard as we could, we stay up all night and even all morning. We create flash cards, we create study guides and we go over them not once but many times. Our teachers believe that we have potential, they love it when we participate in class. Yet when we take quizzes or even test, the results we get back are less than satisfactory. Then our positive moods take a sudden halt. And we are left with self doubting thoughts. Questioning the paths we've decided on taking.

In a movie I always love to watch it spoke on two things that were very meaning full that couldn't be more true in a situation like this was, the first thing is that we simply can not quite. We live in difficult paths and choices we have to make are not simple. Our whole life revolves around what we choose to do. Yes we can cry and we can wallow in misery and say how unfair it is. However where will that take us, it won't change anything. In life before we get to the good unfortunately we go through hell before we ever get there. In the movie that I saw the girl he entires a completely different word, she was an outsider just trying to make a living and her transition to this everyday life wasn't easy. She tried to everything in her power to make things right, but it wasn't happening. And when she confideing in someone they told her you can quite, if you don't like it quite, its on you. In order words we are giving in too easily, why not rethink it, look for other ways to get over the difficult task. So many others wish they could be in you place, why not give it your all, no matter how difficult it is. A statement that was said in the movie was that, "Let me know when your whole life goes up in smoke. That means it's time for a promotion." As we continued with our path, and the closer to what we are meant to be the difficulty meter rises up, yet it means that what we want and crave is so much closer.

What I'm here to tell you what happens right now should not prevent you from continuing on, only reflect what had occurred.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
