Tips to Whiten Your Teeth: Home Remedies

Can we whiten our teeth at home?

Yes, there are several ways that can make teeth look whiter. But Dr. Clemens warns that some treatments are associated with side effects. People who use teeth whitening products without a dentist's supervision are at risk of looking, according him.

"Most of the effects are temporary," he said. "You may experience sensitivity or irritation of the gums."

It's also important to understand what type of stain you may have. Most household products treat external stains – stains on the outside of the teeth. This type of stain is caused by things like red wine, tea, coffee, and smoking.

Internal stains are the result of discoloration of the tooth itself, be it enamel or dentin. Sometimes this can be due to genetic conditions or medications you may have taken as a child. Age also matters a lot.

"One thing that happens when you are in aging stage is that the outer surface of the teeth, the white enamel become thin and the dentin underneath becomes yellow," says Dr. Clement.

If you want to whiten your teeth, here are some popular home procedures.

Used Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide, a natural whitening agent, can be used to whiten teeth. Bleaching is a chemical process that uses oxidizing chemicals to break down the color-causing molecules and change or remove the bonds. Tooth sensitivity and gingivitis may occur.

"Bleaching is actually more specific for changing the perception of whiteness of teeth," says Dr. Clement. "Bleaching will really change that inherent stain."

Hydrogen peroxide is usually safe to use when included in products such as mouthwash and toothpaste, but careful how much you use it.

"The concentrations can be very different," says Dr. Clement. "Look for something specifically formulated for dental use as you'll have a much more controlled percentage of it."

Used Baking Soda

The constant ingredients in the closet have many uses, including whitening teeth. Dr. Clemens suggests looking for dental products that contain baking soda.

"The good thing about baking soda is that it's actually less abrasive than many other ingredients," he says. “If you compare it to other whitening toothpastes, it doesn't have the same grit, so it's a bit gentler on your teeth.

In fact, Dr. Clemens says that toothpaste made with baking soda, removed stains more effectively than some other types of toothpaste.

"What you want to make sure with this toothpaste is that you're still getting fluoride," he says. “One of the main benefits of toothpaste is that you can get at least two daily application of fluoride for the teeth.

By Using Whitening Strips or Trays

The most popular way teeth whitening, whitening strips or trays can have a positive impact on your smile.

Most products contain urea peroxide (a chemical that contains hydrogen peroxide) or hydrogen peroxide. You usually need to apply the solution to your teeth for 30 to 45 minutes a day.

"By using carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide, you get a true whitening result," says Dr. Clement. "This chemical breaks the molecular bonds that cause this color, and you'll really see the results.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
