I knew coming into college that I would probably be getting sick a lot. Everyone always tells you how being in the dorms basically means you are going to be sick the entire year, but I did not know that this wasn't an exaggeration. For me, it started with getting strep throat at the beginning of the year and it seems like it never ended after that. I was tired of having cold after cold, so I decided to start a new regimen for keeping my body as healthy as possible. Here are some of my favorite tips and remedies that I swear by to keep me feeling like my best self.

1. Probiotics

These vitamins basically help you keep your entire life together. These vitamins basically help keep your stomach in check, but besides putting good bacteria into your body they also help you keep an overall healthy immune system. They have even been studied to show improved mental health and who doesn't need a little extra help with that during the school year.

2. Party Detox Tea

I found this small wonder when I was checking out at Earth Fare. If your Friday night is a little too fun then this is a great way to bounce back. You can put these little packets of wonder into cold or hot water and you will immediately feel your body thanking you for replenishing it.

3. Emergen-C

Whenever I am starting to feel a cold coming on, I immediately grab one of these packets and throw it in my water. I have them stocked up in my book bag, car, desk, everywhere. Vitamin C keeps your immune system healthy and this can keep you from getting another annoying cold.

4. Smoothies and shots

I love going to Arden's Garden and getting their smoothies. Their fruit isn't preserved in sugary syrup, it is just straight up fruit. They have different add ins that you can put in your smoothie depending on what you are needing to keep your body in check. I also love how they offer lemon, wheat grass, and ginger shots, all of these are perfect to help maintain a healthy immune system.

5. Water, water, and more water

Okay well first of all, wash your hands. We go to so many different buildings and places on campus during any regular day, so we are exposed to so many different people and their germs. It is so important to make sure that you are washing your hands. Drinking water is so important too. For me, this is easy to slip my mind. Drinking water can help solve so many of your problems. It can help to keep your weight down and also just help to keep you feeling fueled up.

Overall staying healthy is something that is so simple that you can make small changes to your daily routine so you can maintain the strength of your immune system. These 5 things have helped me to feel better, and I am constantly looking for new things to keep me feeling strong and healthy.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
