It's that point in the semester where everyone is getting colds and midterms are causing full-scale breakdowns in the coffee line. The semester is halfway over and us college students are ever-so-slightly falling apart. Here's a reminder that we all need to focus on self-care during this bustling time.

Focus on your needs. Take time to eat and sleep and drink water. Remember that you're human and you need to take care of those needs in order to be a functional student. Take the time to eat a warm meal. Eat some vegetables because contrary to popular belief, energy drinks and power bars are not enough to sustain life. Eat the comfort food too, because you're working hard and sometimes self-care is being just a little indulgent. Maybe try and drink a glass of water instead of five cappuccinos because your body really can't run on coffee alone; I'd know, I tried that last semester.

Take that extra few minutes in the shower. This is coming from the eco-conscious person who frequently takes four-minute showers. Take those two minutes to scrub the stress out of your hair, or to make sure you actually shaved both legs. If you like painting your nails, take that ten minutes out of your day to do it. Take the time in the morning to throw on some mascara because it will trick people into thinking you're awake and you'll feel like even more of a badass. Do things that make you look and feel physically better so that maybe you can trick yourself into not being a stress-zombie.

Don't put things off. Do your dishes before they pile up. It will save you from crying over not being able to find a clean spoon at 3 in the morning while you finally eat dinner for the night. Actually do your laundry. It's so much easier to take care of yourself and study for midterms when you have clean pants and don't have to spend time searching for something that's clean enough to wear in public. Take the time to do the small chores before they get too overwhelming to handle. You'll thank yourself later.

Take 20 minutes to stop everything else and just rest. Sit down with a good book or some music. Drink some tea, or cocoa, something warm that has a soothing effect. This is where you just stop. That paper can wait 20 minutes. Let yourself slow down because overly stressing isn't going to help you. Color a coloring sheet, look at all of the pets you wish you could smuggle into your dorm room on petfinder. Do things that make you happy because at the end of the day, whether you're doing well or not this semester, what matters most is you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
