With the holiday season right around the corner, we are antsy and ready to be done with the fall semester. When the holiday season nears, that also means that finals are on our doorstep. Less than a month from now we will all be crammed in the library, downing the coffee that has extra espresso in it, while trying to jam as much information in our heads as possible. Finals week for college kids is probably one of the most stressful times we put ourselves through. Because lets be honest, we all procrastinate our study time and binge watch Netflix to get away from the reality of it all. Thus leading us to mental break downs at 2 o'clock in the morning and stressing to the point that we just "can't deal". Fear not fellow worry warts, here are a couple things you can do to take the edge off.
Take the time to make a study schedule so you're not completely swamped.
The hardest part of studying is actually starting the process. Sit down with your planner and make a schedule to help keep you on track. Yeah, it might be tedious but it does help because you can plan for study breaks and it helps prevent you from studying for one final for five hours and another for only 30 minutes because you got tired or ran out of time.
Study somewhere with a good environment.
Studying in the library can somewhat be depressing and often can lead to distractions when everyone and their mom is there. Study someplace where you can relax, such as a coffee shop. Not only is there more of a lax environment, it gives you the prefect opportunity to take food and drink breaks when you need to.
Make the time to do something fun.
I know fun probably doesn't exist during finals week but you can change that! Take a couple hours out of your day to do something you enjoy! Go on a nature walk, enjoy a music show, or just be around your friends and laugh. Having that couple hours away from the books will help you relax and just enjoy life.
Your grades don't define you.
While I know we cram and cry hoping to get that A or B on that final exam, just remember that in the end, that grade isn't who you are. We are human and we all make mistakes. We might not make the grade we need and that's okay. At the end of the week, we all look back and think "why did I just make myself so stressed out over that?" We all do it. But at when it comes down to it, a grade is just a grade and what is important is you. So don't stress too much, and look forward to the family time we get after finals.
