To put lightly, the current United States government is kind of like a poorly written late night comedy sketch. There are too many moving parts, Spicy and The Mooch, I'm talking about you, not to mention the divide between the political parties. I mean, the president that is supposed to be an ambassador for our nation and represent the people of the United States as best as he or she can, communicates through tweets (#covfefe).
I don't know about you, but I rather leave the comedy up to some of our favorite comedians. So the following is a side by side comparison of what our government responded with regarding pertinent topics versus what comedians have responded with.
1. Donald Trump on the events in Charlottesville
"You had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people on both sides."
Michael Che on the events in Charlottesville
"If you are a fine person and you happen to be at a rally filled with Nazi's, at what point do you stop and think, hey am I being unreasonable?"
2. Jeff Sessions on Donald Trump's behalf regarding DACA
"It [DACA] denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same illegal aliens to take those jobs."
Sessions did not quite present evidence that these individuals who have crossed the border into the United States at very young ages and have lived in American for decades have stole American jobs, but who needs evidence when you have a man named Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III feeding you the information?
*side note* On September 5, 2017, Donald Trump had his 'beloved' attorney general give a statement about the ending of the DACA program instead of first giving a press conference on the subject himself. Does that have anything to do with the fact that on February 16, 2017 he stated that, "They [Dreamers] shouldn't be very worried. I have a big heart. We're going to be taking care of everybody."
Seth Meyers on the Rescission of DACA
"So a president who backed himself into a corner by catering to the racial resentments of his base is now needlessly throwing the lives of hundreds of thousands of hardworking Americans into chaos."
3. Donald Trump on Military Spending
"I am sending Congress a budget that rebuilds the military, eliminates the defense sequester and calls for one of the largest increases in national defense spending in American history..."
Michael Che on Military Spending
"Depleted military? In relation to what? The Death Star? We're [Our military is] like that roided out guy at the gym slamming plates around still working on our traps, and it's like... we get it, you're strong, maybe focus on education now."
I'm not necessarily alluding to how these politically inexperienced entertainers should be the leaders of our country, but rather point out that they are more logical and well-spoken at times than our president. Nah, maybe what I'm essentially saying is, Seth Meyers for 2020 and Donald Trump to step down as the President and instead create a late night comedy tv show (preferably one that airs at 2 a.m.)
